Unsigned Senior Games: Team Navy Middle Infielders

The PBR Tennessee Unsigned Senior Games took place on October 11 at Vol State and afforded uncommitted seniors from around the state the opportunity to showcase their abilities in a combination showcase/game play event.

The following is a look at the Team Navy middle infielders who participated in the event. This is position player analysis only. Those players who also participated as a pitcher at the event will have their pitching performance featured in a subsequent article.
Colby Carey, 2016, South Gibson County, SS
The 5 foot 10, 160-pound prospect posted a 6.90 60 time (6.85 previous event) and had an 82 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Carey shows short arm action, some accuracy on throws, good arm strength, average hands, fluid footwork, and has a quick release. Offensively, Carey has fast bat speed from the right side and had an 89 mph exit velocity off the tee. Carey hits from a balanced setup, has a short stride, aggressive use his lower half, has average balance, an aggressive approach, level path but will drop his hands at times, line drive type hitter with flashes of gap power. Carey went 2 for 4 during game play with a double and a single. Carey is a good athlete with good raw tools to work with.
Dalton Langston, 2016, Knox Halls, 2B
The 5 foot 9, 185-pound prospect posted a 7.71 60 time and had an 79 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Langston has good arm strength, accuracy on throws, soft hands, fluid footwork with good lateral movement. Offensively Langston showed average bat speed from the right side and had an 76 mph exit velocity off the tee. Langston hits from a balanced setup, has a short stride, uses his lower half, has good balance, aggressive approach, does a good job of getting the barrel on plane and keeping it through the zone, line drive type hitter had a solid round of BP. Langston went 0 for 3 during game play. He put up better numbers across the board at a summer event which are noted in his profile.
Austin Helton, 2016, Stone Memorial, 2B
The 5 foot 6, 150-pound prospect posted a 7.37 60 time and had a 70 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Helton has short arm action, makes accurate throws with average arm strength, soft to average hands, quick footwork, clean exchange, plays through the ball and has natural instincts. Offensively Helton shows some bat speed through the zone and had a 78 mph exit velocity off the tee. Helton hits from a balanced setup with a leg kick involved, uses his lower half, has good balance, has an aggressive approach, level path, fluid rhythm, and is a line drive type hitter. Helton gets the most out of his small stature and is a very scrappy player. He went 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and a single during game play.
Damien Alcorn, 2016, Oakland HS, 2B
The 5 foot 9, 135-pound prospect posted a 7.84 60 time and had a 73 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Alcorn has average arm strength, some accuracy on throws, soft to average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange, and showed good infield instincts. Offensively Alcorn has average bat speed from the right side and had a 69 mph exit velocity off the tee. Alcorn hits from a balanced setup, has a short stride, uses his lower half, overall balance, level swing path who works the middle to opposite field. Alcorn went 1-for-3 in game play.
