We continue to take a look at players who will be participating in the PBR Tennessee Top Prospect Games at the University of Tennessee on June 9-10. The event affords players the opportunity to showcase their abilities in a combination showcase/game play event and will feature some of the top uncommitted Class of 2016 and 2017 players in the state.
Drew Pierce attended our East Tennessee College Prospect Showcase and caught our eye with his performance. Pierce, a class of 2016 RHP from Dobyns-Bennett HS , has the ideal pitchers body with good velocity to go along with his ideal pitcher’s frame. Below is a look at Pierce’s scouting report from the January event.
1/17/15- The 6 foot 4, 185-pound prospect, shows good projectability, ideal pitcher’s frame with projection, long arm action works through a ¾ slot, smooth rhythm in delivery, good balance, fastball sat 84-86 mph with some arm-side run, showed a solid curveball at 70-73 mph with 11/5 action, throws his 73-75 mph changeup with good arm action that shows some sink and fade, good feel for three-pitch mix, consistently pounds the strike zone, big upside and a 2016 pitcher to keep a close eye on this spring.
Pierce, currently ranked No. 44 in Tennessee’s 2016 class, will be looking to further establish himself as a top 2016 arm in the state at the Top Prospect Games.
