TN: Unsigned Senior Border Battle - Pitchers

Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

On August 19th, Western Kentucky hosted a Border Battle of unsigned seniors between Kentucky and Tennessee.  This event included a position player workout, followed by pitchers throwing live in game. Players were afforded the opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of the PBR Tennessee staff and college coaches in attendance. Two position player attendees have already committed.  For a look at every pitcher in attendance, read below and check out the Twitter feed for video highlights!

WILL CRAIN / RHP / OF / STEWART COUNTY, TN / 2019

Max FB: 88, FB: 84-88, Avg FB: 85.48, CB: 72-76
6-foot-1, 185-pound, RHP showed a dynamic FB, allowing him to generate a 35 % swing and miss rate on it (6 of 19).  Tall, athletic frame w/ high-waist, some present lower half strength.  Projectable, has just scratched the surface of his frame potential.  Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ to ¾ release from the third base side of the rubber.  Super quick arm w/ high effort throw.  Repeated his arm slot, kept his arm on time consistently.  Athleticism allows him ability to maintain delivery.  Super uncomfortable at bat, lot of limbs coming at you with deception.  FB flashed explosive life, occasional ride through the zone, occasional sink w/ short run, occasional heavy cut.  Medium downer CB w/ proper shape and rotation.  More control than command at this stage, threw strikes w/ the FB (27 of 42).  Flashes ability to pitch w/ intent on the FB, having an idea of how to pitch to both corners.  Around the zone w/ the CB.
