Scouting Report

8/01/20
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Notre Dame commit continued to expand his resume making his second PBR Future Games appearance. At the dish, relaxed, balanced stance with slightly open setup and loose hands. Small leg kick with great rhythm and timing, proving to be one of the most consistent swings from the left side. Consistent heavy dose of line drives with some gap to gap upside (Max exit velo: 91.7 mph; Max Distance: 340 ft  per Trackman).  Generates good bat speed (Max: 72.7 mph; Avg: 69.1 mph per Blast)  and promising rotational data (Max: 15.5 G per Blast).  Balanced approach drawing three walks and feel for barrel slashing a single thru the 6-hole vs Kentucky. Great instincts and tools up the middle with soft, quick hands and precise transitions. Good feel defensively  and high baseball IQ.

1/19/20
5-foot-10, 175-pound  athletic frame. In the box, the left-handed hitters best exit velocity was 82 mph. Starts in an open stance with a quick load, then uses a short stride to start his swing. Has a level swing plane, quick bat speed and extension on his finish. Produced some loud contact and found lots of barrels during the round. Base hit approach. In the infield, showed an ability to throw across the field at 73 mph; had a quick exchange, athletic footwork and sure hands. Movements laterally were athletic while used his glovework out front. Showed a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he recorded a time of 7.36.  This 2019 Future Games Participant is a must see in the 2020 season.

7/31/19
60: 7.37 INF Velo: 75 Exit Velo: 85
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound lefty-swinging shortstop was the youngest of his position group.  Clapp went 0 for 4 (2 BB) w/ 3 quality at bats in 7 plate appearances while scoring 2 runs and driving in 1.  Barreled the baseball to all fields w/ gap to gap power in BP.  Showed advanced balanced approach at plate in game action. Defensively, Clapp showed to be a plus defender w/ great hands, smooth movement patterns, and quick transitions. Showed better range than 60 time indicated.  Needs to develop agility to go w/ lean, proportional strength frame. Profile projects to be sure-handed infielder w/ high-ceiling lefty bat.
