Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

On Friday, we were present for the first day of games as part of the TCCAA Fall Showcase, hosted by Lipscomb University.  Friday brought together Cleveland State, Jackson State, Motlow State and Volunteer State.  Below is a look at Volunteer State and the players that jumped out to us during their two games.

BILL HAMILTON / 3B / 1B / MONTGOMERY CENTRAL , TN / 2017

1-4

Middle Tennessee State commit.  6-4, 255-pound 1st basemen shows ability to drive the baseball, recording a 101 exit velocity on a single up the middle.  Intimidating presence, XL tall, physical, bulldog frame w/ well-proportioned present strength, mature frame.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, very slightly crouched stance w/ quiet hands into shift of weight, stride to slightly open and proper load.  Generates above average bat speed through the zone.  Combination of above average bat speed, strength result in ability to punish baseballs.  For a big frame, controls his body well, shows ability to hit on balance.  Quiet head, shows swing repeatability.  Power to all fields, can mis-hit a ball out to RF.  Moves very well for size, athletic.  Ran a 4.35 down the line, got a bit of a running start on contact.  Defensively, moves well w/ solid hands.
