Prep Baseball Report

TN: JUCO: Southwest Tennessee

Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

On Saturday, we were present for the first three games as part of the TCCAA Fall Showcase, hosted by Lipscomb University, as we had to leave early to prepare for an early morning trip to Memphis on Sunday.  Saturday brought together Chattanooga State, Dyersburg State, Roane State and Southwest Tennessee.  It is important to note that there was no pregame I/O before these games, so getting a read on overall defense was difficult.  Below is a look at Southwest Tennessee and the players that jumped out to us during their first game.  They were previously seen here, which was their first inter-squad.  If we saw them and wrote them up in the previous write-up, it will be a briefer write-up this time around.

WILL NASH / RHP / OF / PALESTINE/WHEATLEY, AR / 2017

FB (85-88, T89), SL (77-80), CH (78-80)

5-11, 195-pound sophomore was dynamic in two hitless innings, showing a velocity jump from what we saw at the inter-squad.  Ball was jumping out of his hand, showing occasional late ride through the zone, more resembling the arm we saw last spring.  Straight FB w/ occasional short cut.  Tight, short ¾ tilt SL w/ occasional depth.  Firm straight CH.  Around the zone w/ his 3-pitch mix.  Generated 2 swing and misses on 9 swings.
