Prep Baseball Report

TN: JUCO: Chattanooga State

Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

On Saturday, we were present for the first three games as part of the TCCAA Fall Showcase, hosted by Lipscomb University, as we had to leave early to prepare for an early morning trip to Memphis on Sunday.  Saturday brought together Chattanooga State, Dyersburg State, Roane State and Southwest Tennessee.  It is important to note that there was no pregame I/O before these games, so getting a read on overall defense was difficult.  Below is a look at Chattanooga State and the players that jumped out to us during their two games.

LANDON WALKER / RHP / MILAN, TN / 2016

FB (87-91), CB (69-73)

6-1, 205-pound righty struck out 2 over 2 innings while generating 5 swing and misses on 15 swings.  Medium, sturdy frame w/ present lower half strength, close to mature frame.  Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ release from the middle of the rubber.  Super quick arm, loose.  Glove tap and go.  Quiet, repeatable delivery.  Angle.  True FB.  Medium downer CB w/ proper shape and rotation.  Flashes above average depth, late bite.  Strike-thrower threw 18 of 27 pitches for strikes, projects to command.
