On Friday, we traveled to Tennessee High School to watch their tilt against Johnson County.  This was a solid day weather-wise, as it included temperatures in the mid to high 50’s.  Unfortunately, the CF camera chose to focus on the fence in front of the camera and only sporadically re-focused.  The side camera focused on the netting in front of it, but you can at least see some mechanical things within swings.  Read below to see some standouts (due to the video, there will be minimal video posted to Twitter)!

Tennessee

Gavin Cross OF / LHP / Tennessee, TN / 2019 Rankings  StateRank: 19 / POS: 5 2-3 Virginia Tech commit found 3 barrels in 3 at bats, showcasing a line drive swing.  6-0, 175-pounder features a medium, athletic frame w/ physical lower half, some physical projection.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ quiet hands into proper stride to square and short hand load.  Generates above average bat speed through the zone w/ natural loft.  Repeats his swing.  Projectable up the middle to pull power.  Projects to hit for average w/ barrel feel.  Defensively, showed first step quickness in CF w/ ability to cover gap to gap.

Davis Hall 3B / Tennessee, TN / 2019 1-3, BB 3Bmen shows projectable frame, arm strength.  Tall, athletic frame w/ projectable frame, some present strength.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, very slightly crouched stance into shift of weight, short stride and load.  Pull oriented approach.  Learning to keep upper and lower half in sync, tendency to leak w/ his hips.  Defensively, shows 3B arm strength w/ carry to target.

CJ Hess 2B / SS / Tennessee, TN / 2019 1-4 2Bmen shows SS defensive tools w/ projectable frame.  Medium, athletic frame w/ lean strength, projectable.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance into stride and proper load.  Front foot was down too early on this day, creating a bit of a disjointed swing.  Generates bat speed through the zone w/ natural loft.  Defensively, shows soft hands w/ projectable arm strength.

Banks Presson SS / 2B / Tennessee, TN / 2018 Rankings  StateRank: 82 / POS: 13 0-2 Tusculum commit shows an advanced all-around game.  Medium, athletic frame w/ present strength, some physical projection, well-proportioned.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into proper stride and load.  Generates bat speed through the zone.  Up the middle approach, got a bit pull heavy on this day.  Projects to hit for average w/ pull power.  Defensively, shows solid hands w/ good feet, arm strength w/ carry to target.
