TN Game Report: Giles County @ Central Magnet

Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

On Tuesday, we traveled to Central Magnet for their tilt against Giles County.  This was a solidly warm day for what qualifies as warm this spring, with a heavy wind blowing out to left field.  This was due to a strong storm system moving into the area on Tuesday night.  Giles County was previously written about here, so their writeups will be more stuff and tool based.  Read below for standouts and check out the Twitter feed for some video highlights!

Righty moved from third base to the mound for a 2-inning relief appearance.  Has made a jump in terms of command after what we saw at Border Battle in the fall.  Threw 19 of 27 pitches for strikes.  Continued to showcase his super quick arm w/ some length in back.  FB shows ride through the zone.  Flashed ability to locate down in the zone.  Pitched, would subtract from his velo when he needed a strike to locate if he fell behind and then would grip it and rip it in 2 strike situations.  Mixed in 2 CB’s, big downer comes up out of hand, shows proper shape.  Get me over type pitch for now, arm speed and slot suggest a SL will be a difference making pitch for him.  Would expect him to make a jump w/ his ability to spin the baseball similar to his jump in command, just a matter of when.
