TN Day Report: Thursday

Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

On Thursday, we traveled to Brentwood Academy to catch 2 and a half innings of their matchup w/ Baylor before heading to Pope John Paul for their full game against McCallie.  This was a colder day all day, with temperatures hovering in the low 60’s before dropping as the night wore on.  Baylor was previously seen here.  McCallie was previously seen here. To read up on standouts, read below (and follow the Twitter feed for video highlights!):

JAKE RUCKER / SS / RHP / POPE JOHN PAUL II, TN / 2018

3-4, 2 2B

Tennessee commit accounted for 5 of the 6 runs in the victory.  Medium, athletic, well-proportioned frame w/ some present strength, some projection.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ hand rhythm into leg kick to square and proper load.  Generates above average bat speed through the zone w/ barrel feel.  All fields approach, lot of line drives all over.  Feel for backspin, as frame continues to develop, will find more home runs.  Present pull power, projectable all fields power.  Defensively, shows solid hands w/ arm strength w/ carry to target.
