Player Spotlight: Hendersonville 2015 1B Ben Smith
August 8, 2014
By Doug Hall
Tennessee Director of Scouting
Ben Smith, 1B, Hendersonville HS, 2015
Smith is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound, switch hitting first baseman. From a defensive standpoint he is a sure-handed fielder who moves well with good footwork around the bag. He also has a plus arm for the first base position. At the plate he is a line drive hitter who sprays the ball around the field. With some additional strength, Smith should see a boost in power numbers during his upcoming senior season for the Commandos. Smith is a smart player who plays within his skill level and abilities. Academically, he has a 3.8 GPA and a qualifying ACT score.
