PLUS: Game Report: Shelbyville @ Tullahoma

On Tuesday, I battled traffic out of Nashville to arrive at Tullahoma High School right around first pitch for their match-up against Shelbyville Central.  A game that was close and featured two arms battling, Tullahoma won it 4-1.  Read up on the players that stood out below:

HOLLIS FANNING / RHP / TULLAHOMA, TN / 2020

FB (82-86), CB (69-73)

-          7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K

6-7, 200-pound righty stood out in this first look at him, combining prototypical pitcher size, projection and strike-throwing ability rare for a pitcher his size.  XL tall, long and lanky w/ high waist, super projectable.  Has just scratched the surface of his frame potential.  Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ release.  Simple, repeatable delivery w/ loose arm.  Really controls his body, repeats.  Quick arm.  Angle w/ extension.  Can get a little stronger w/ his glove-side, is just along for the ride.  FB shows arm-side run, occasional late life in the zone.  CB flashes proper shape and rotation, late bite and depth.  Knee buckler type at it’s best.  More control than command at this point in time, but has a feel for the strike zone (66 of 85 FB’s for strikes).  Projects to command w/ reps.
