PBRT Alabama Fall Open: Scout Blog
September 11, 2023
ALBERTVILLE, AL - The PBRT Alabama Fall Open wrapped up game play on Sunday in Albertville, AL at the state-of-the-art Sand Mountain Sports Complex, which features four artificial-turf fields. It was another picture-perfect day of baseball with great weather for the final day of play over the upperclass division.
Our scouts were on hand for all games played, and there were plenty of standout performances throughout the day, both at the plate and on the mound. Teams and players were well-represented throughout the southeast part of the country, making for a perfect day of baseball. Below, you will find a few of the standouts from the weekend included with video and reports from their performances.

+ RHP/MIF Carson Pack (Redbirds Baseball Club, 2025) was a big winner on the mound this weekend and caught the eyes of our staff in the last slate of games on Sunday. Hopped on the mound and worked in the mid-to-upper-80’s (84-87 mph) and was up to 89 mph in the first inning with the fastball, had spotty command at times but eventually settled in as the game went on. Flashed a 12/6 breaking ball as the go to offspeed offering as it worked at 70-72 mph with hard, late bite. Pack is an aggressive and explosive mover down the mound with an over-the-top arm action. Seemed more comfortable out the windup during his start as well. Pack also helped the Redbirds on the offensive end in the game before his start as he delivered with a bases loaded single back up the middle of the field that would plate home a run. High waisted and lean 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame that projects.
.@PBR_Uncommitted ‘25 MIF/RHP Carson Pack (Oakland HS) struggled with some command early in the first but has settled in since then.

+ INF Cooper Bailey (Mission Baseball, 2024) had one of the hottest bats in Albertville over the weekend during the PBRT Alabama Fall Open. Bailey had multiple knocks over the weekend as he helped lead Mission Baseball to a perfect 4-0 record. Showed the ability to use all parts of the field during his at-bats, late in the game on Saturday, showed an advanced approach as he fell behind in the count and laced a backside single into right. Carrying over into game play action on Sunday, Bailey showed off the power tool as he left the yard early in the morning slate of games, followed the home run up with a two-RBI single through the left side later in the game to extend the Mission Baseball lead. Athletic and uncommitted prospect at 6-foot-0, 185-pounds.

+ LHP Corbin Hamric (Prospex 18U, 2025) our scouting staff was able to get another good look at southpaw Corbin Hamric over the weekend as we saw him previously at Sand Mountain Park back in July. Didn’t have his best stuff during his start in terms of command as he found himself laboring through innings early on but was able to pitch out of some jams and keep the game within reach for Prospex 18U. Hamric works from a low-to-mid-¾ arm slot and makes things uncomfortable for left handed hitters in the box. The fastball worked in the low-80’s (80-84 mph with some arm side action while he flashed both the slider (64-67 mph) and changeup (71-72 mph) as go to offspeed offerings. Lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 140-pound body that could add some mass and see a jump in velo as well.
.@PBR_Uncommitted ‘25 LHP Corbin Hamric (@CoHammy; Susan Moore HS) has labored through the middle innings here after a solid start to his outing.

+ 2B/OF Owen Phillips (Mission Baseball, 2024) was another key piece for the Mission offense throughout the weekend that helped lead them to a perfect 4-0 over at Sand Mountain Park. Phillips is a middle-of-the-order power potential threat at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds from the left side of the dish. Took some aggressive hacks during his at-bats, relaxed look in the box and often looks to lift in the swing. Contributed to the offense on Saturday with a deep, go ahead sac fly in the late innings to help secure their win. Showed the two strike approach on Sunday as he would go down in the zone for an offering and send it back up the middle of the field for an RBI single. Solid uncommitted follow in the Tennessee 2024 Class.

+ RHP/3B Andrew Dudley (6-4-3 Baseball, 2025) displayed a strong showing on the bump in the early parts of his outing on Sunday in Albertville. A long, lean and wiry look to the 6-foot-5, 200-pounder, Dudley has more room left to continue and develop his frame. He flashed a fastball in the low-80’s during his outing while showing the curveball as the primary secondary offering in order to keep the opposing hitter off balance. With the bat, Dudley delivered in a clutch spot for 6-4-3 Baseball on Saturday as they were working their way back into a game after falling behind early, extended the inning on the offensive side of things as he dropped the barrel on the first pitch he saw and cashed in with an RBI single to right to cut their deficit to one at the time.
.@PBR_Uncommitted ‘25 3B/RBP Andrew Dudley (@ADudley2025; @NewHopeHSBaseb1) has logged three scoreless frames in his start so far for @643BaseballHSV.

+ MIF Trey Thornton (Prospex 18U, 2024) had a strong showing over the weekend in Albertville over at Sand Mountain Park as he was 5-10 (.500 avg) at the plate over the four game stretch. Got the offense rolling on Saturday as he doubled down the left field line to move runners into scoring position and later lead to pushing a run across in the frame. Top of the order type hitter who finds ways to get on the bases. Also shows clean actions defensively. Leaner and athletic prospect at 6-foot-0, 165-pounds.
.@PBR_Uncommitted ‘24 MIF Trey Thornton (@Trey_Thornton27; Sardis HS) gets the Prospex 18U offense rolling here in the first with a double that sneaks down the left field line and moves two into scoring position.
