Nashville Open & Rising Stars ID: Quick Hits

Hunter Martin
TN Scouting Director

Nashville, TN - The Nashville Open & Nashville Rising Stars ID was held on Tuesday, May 30th at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. This event consisted of prospects from the 2024-2028 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to throw in gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday.

Kicking off our post-event coverage for these events, we take a look back at some of the top performers and standouts from the event. Continuing over the course of the next week or so, we will release Statistical Leaderboards for the event, along with our scouting reports.

quick hits

+ CINF Nate Webb (Pope John Paul II, 2025) At 6-foot-3, 213-pounds, Nate Webb starts the summer off with a bang as he showcased his raw plus plus power, hitting backspin line drives and lofted home runs that jumped off his bat with a different ferocity. Webb led the group with a 406 ft barreled up baseball with a max exit velocity of 102 mph that plays at any field. Webb comes in slimmed down from a heavier weight previously and thus has really helped his overall game as he is more than just a hitter that can hit the longball. He is more athletic than previously thought as his highlight of the day came during his lasered sixty with a time of 7.13 and a max speed of 19 mph.

+ CINF Madden Williams (Lipscomb Academy, 2025) Stocky and athletic corner infielder with just a solid frame at 5-foot-11, 206-pounds that understands how to use his lower half and work the entire field. Has premium hand speed and one of the quietest heads you will see hitting the baseball. Williams averaged in the low to mid 90’s with his exit velocity with a barrel designed to consistently make above average contact on the baseball that has no preference of direction off the bat. Made really hard contact with a super quick bat that impressed. Plus defender

+ 3B/RHP Masin Hall (Lipscomb Academy, 2025) Slim and athletic infielder that impressed in his round of bp with a smooth, line drive swing that stays through the ball for a gap-to-gap approach. Smaller stature at this point coming in at 5-foot-8 and 147-pounds, however with a very projectable body and swing that should develop. Came away with a 92 mph exit velocity that has the potential to skyrocket as he gains weight and muscle mass. Max run speed just around 19 mph and oozes with present feel and athleticism. Smooth infielder that stuck out with his fielding approach and on target throws.

+ OF/LHP Lane Brown (Dickson County, 2026) At 6-foot-0 and 185-pounds, this 15 year old left-handed pitcher has a strong upper body that hasn’t fully tapped into using his lower half, which will aid him as he continues to develop his fastball velocity but screams command and pitchability. Fastball had present run with carry up in the zone with really solid spin efficiency. Changup presented a downward sinking action that had an advanced feel and approach. High 90's average with some pure 100 % spin efficiency on his fastball and changeup. Solid command with a strong showing on the bump and has a chance to blossom on the mound into a high caliber arm from the left side.

+ RHP/3B Lane Estes (Chester County, 2027) Rising freshman with present build at 6-foot-0. Really understands how to use his lower half down the mound and has been taught extremely well. Creates initial tilt south and levers his shoulders in plane syncing north to home plate that just creates a really solid downward trajectory with his pitches. Feel for blocking his pelvis and creating extension with his plant leg that allows him to drive through the baseball upon release with a really clean arm action. Topped 84 mph with a heavy fastball that jumped to home plate. Great command of that pitch in the zone that was smooth and natural and didn’t present an overthrowing feel that young hard throwers usually have. High caliber arm and will skyrocket as his off-speed develops.

+ C Lucas Dawson (Summit, 2025) Great feel for the catching position with strong sturdy build at 5-foot-9 and 185-pounds. Compact frame that offers a great target for pitchers with feel and also has ability to deliver the baseball to second. Raised some eyebrows with a 1.94 pop time with consistent accuracy on line with throws that held its plane. Worked really well underneath the baseball with a smooth short arm action that worked in sync gaining ground to second. Blocked really well and showed advanced actions behind the dish all around.
