quick hits
Drew Hostetler: 5 foot 11, 175 lb athlete with plenty of room for added mass. Really has coordinated actions in all movements and really had a great showing in many facets of the game. Compact frame that moves really well and shines in straight line speed. Posted the fastest 60 time of the day with a 6.58 second finish to go alongside a really clean round of BP where he sprayed loud line drives in the gaps.
Davis Peralta: Sturdy catcher with a proportional frame that has a strong look to his lower half. Really stood out with clean mechanics with quick glove to hand transition speed during throw downs to second. Delivered on plane throws, while also showing the ability to intentionally 1 hop throws to second base accurately. Led the position portion with a 77 mph catching velo that went alongside a 1.90 pop time. At the plate, led the group with the highest Trackman Exit velocity at 98 mph, as well as posting the highest Trackman Exit velocity average at 90 mph. Overall, has athletic traits that should continue to blossom.
Erimel Rosado: Really shined well defensively as he stays low to the ground in his set up with quick twitch athletic traits that allows him to work well to both his glove hand and backhand. Really solid defender that really impressed with his ability to gather and fire to first cleanly with smooth actions. Has a lot of feel for SS and can stay there at the next level I believe. 6.90 second runner in the 60 with a strong put together lower half at 6 foot and 190 pounds. Showcased arm strength with mid 80’s across the diamond.
Turner McSwain: Long and lean body with plenty of room to add mass and showed his potential with the bat and the ability that he could work into as he grows into his frame. Really understands how to use the middle of the field and led the group with the quickest hand speed at 24 mph. This is a kid that just ended his freshman year and can really grow into some power as he adds mass to his frame. Showed ability and feel for pitching with ability to be consistent around the zone. His next step is just growing into his frame and adding strength.
KJ Briggs: Overall had the best outing on the mound with tempo, mechanics and stuff. Gets down the mound really well with quickness with a really athletic arm. Sat 85-87 mph with the fastball while carrying some bore action with 17 inches of induced vertical break that had about 13 inches of horizontal run. Fastball plays really well and can effectively work well into righties. Also has apparent feel for his secondary offerings with a solid changeup that has fastball arm speed and look to it that pairs nicely with a slider that presents as a swing and miss offering. Really stood out on the mound and has a chance to add to his velocity with added strength over the fall for him.
Burton Moore: Athletic kid that is rising into his sophomore year. Showed present arm strength with low 80’s across the diamond from SS. Has solid feet and ability to control the lower half in athletic movements. Clean shapes to his actions that leads into a clean arm action. Potential may be on the mound as he sat 80-83 mph with the fastball, while touching 84. Solid ability to spin the pitch as he averages in the 2000’s RPM’s, while showing the ability to get into the high 2200 range. Flowed really nicely down the mound and again with control of his body exceptionally well. Had some of the best command with about 75% strikes being thrown, which bodes well for him pitching at a high level going forward. Fastball shows a lot of downward tilt that should work well down in the zone and will generate a lot of ground balls. Secondary offerings are not there yet with his fastball but offer potential as he gains understanding of wrist positioning and intent with offerings.
