Jupiter: Duncan's Day 3 Notebook

JUPITER, FL – Cardinals Field 1 was beginning to fill with college coaches and pro scouts, chiefly to see 2016 LHP Spencer Van Scoyac’s (Cedar Rapids Thomas Jefferson HS, IA) start against the Texas Sun Devils on Saturday afternoon. For early arrivers, light talk centered around a snake peeking its head out from inside the grandstand’s railing.
One coach joked that it was the Jupiter Jumping Snake. The snake was seemingly small, and besides, it wasn’t going anywhere.
Or so we thought.
The snake eventually came out of the piping – and it wasn’t small. Pure pandemonium ensued. The snake slithered up the fence, down the fence, into the grass, into a coach’s golf cart, back up the fence, on top of the press box, all the while a game was being played. Needless to say no one there was watching.
Finally two brave guys rolled up and tracked down the snake. One dude grabbed it by its head and drove away in a golf cart with the snake in his hand. A coach from Oklahoma identified the snake as a water moccasin.
