Hoover Met Fall Championships: Day 1 Scout Blog
September 20, 2019
On a night that finally felt like fall baseball, here are some of the top performers from tonight’s first two set of pool plays games of the Hoover Met Fall Championships at the Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, AL.
6:00 Games
Dinger Nation 2021 vs. TPL 17U
-OF Keshon Hall (Hueytown HS) started off his weekend with a bang by roping a pitch into the LCF gap for an inside the park HR for TPL 17U. The junior set the tone for his team as he drove in three runs and they never looked back. Very athletic player that covers ground well in CF. Hall displayed a balanced setup at the dish and looks to drive the ball on every pitch. He finished the day 2-3 w/ 2 R’s and 3 RBI’s.

-With Hall hitting in the 3-hole, 3B Davis Gaston provided just as much offense hitting behind him in the order. In the 5th inning, Gaston stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and stroked a 2-out, 2-strike fastball back up the middle to drive in 2 runs for TPL 17U. The Snead State CC commit showed a short, compact swing and the ability to stay inside an inside pitch and drive it back up the middle.

-RHP Andrew Lindstrom (McGill-Toolen HS) was very effective in his outing for TPL 17U, keeping the opposing offense off the scoreboard the whole game. Lindstrom showed exceptional FB command and the ability to locate it in all four quadrants of the strike zone. He just missed barrels and induced weak contact all night long. Although he was not overpowering with his stuff, the command was good enough for the senior. He finished going 4 IP, 4 H’s, 0 R, 1 BB and 6 K’s.

He allowed only one earned run and struck out 7. He showed a FB that sat 80-81 early and topped at 82 mph. His breaking ball was a swing and miss pitch he had a ton of confidence in.
