Being asked to pitch in District 4 AAA, one of the toughest in the state, can be a daunting task for anyone. But being asked to do so as an underclassman takes that challenge to a whole different level. However, since coming on the scene and lettering since his freshman campaign, Tyler Thompson has done just that, and done so very well for Hardin Valley Academy.
On the mound the right-hander stands at an imposing 6-foot-5 and weighs 180 pounds. Thompson features a fastball that reaches into the high 80's, and in just a few weeks will put his talents on display on the national stage at the 2014 Futures Games hosted by Prep Baseball Report. Tyler will pitch for the Stars team July 31-August 2 at Grand Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tennessee will have its own team selected for the event beginning in 2015
The top 2016 and 2017 talent from Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin will participate in what has become a can't miss event. Last year’s event saw more than 110 Division I coaches in attendance including schools from every conference in the eastern half of the country.
Under Armour serves as the sponsor for the event and provides jerseys, cleats, and hats to all players selected to participate. As with any Prep Baseball Report event, Thompson will have his online profile created with his stats, picture, and video from the event.
