On Wednesday, Ensworth traveled to Leipers Fork to take one Grace Christian Academy at Clyde Pewitt FIeld on a starry night. Uncommitted 2021 RHP Grant Solomon faced off against 2020 Notre Dame Commit Drew Byers of Ensworth. Solomon tossed three scoreless innings allowing one hit and one walk while punching out three. Drew Byers was equally good in the first two frames before running into trouble in the 3rd, as Grace Christian rallied with four base knocks to plate four runs, highlighted by a two-run single from Carson Maloney. Ensworth got on the board in the 4th as 21’ Duke Commit Andrew Yu was hit by a pitch and came around to score, then added another run in the 5th as 21’ Duke Commit Devin Obee doubled and Yu singled him in to make it a 4-2 game. 23’ RHP Dylan Hudson kept Grace Chrstian at bay, tossing a scoreless 4th, 5th, and 6th to keep Ensworth in the game. In the top of the 7th, 21’ LHP Brock Arender lost control of the zone walking in a run and being lifted with the bases loaded and one out. After a strikeout getting down two strikes, 21’ OF Reid Buschmann peppered a ball into the left centerfield gap to plate two runs as Carson Cobb was cut down at the plate to end the frame, but Ensworth carried a 5-4 lead into the bottom half. After Belmont Commit Blake Barton had a hard lineout to CF, Hudson also struggled to fill up the zone, walking one and hitting three batters, scoring one. Coach Jason Maxwell called upon Andrew Yu to get the Tigers out of the jam in the tie game, Yu punched out one, but a passed ball got away from the catcher allowing Grace Christian to walk it off for a 6-5 win.
