Coffee County vs Columbia Central: Game Notes

Afternoon action on Monday, March 9 found us in Columbia, TN as 2020 RHP Jaden Hamm (MTSU Commit) squared up against 2020 LHP/OF Hayden Skipper (Lipscomb Commit) of Coffee County to open up 8-AAA play.
Hamm went to work quickly in the first with a steady diet of fastballs at 88-90, Top 91 plus 73-76 breaking ball. FB continues to jump out of his hand w/ good life and spin. Off-speed command a bit spotty early, but found it as the game progressed.
Skipper with a tough start after walking the lead off batter, speedy 2020 2B Bryce Symlar (MTSU Commit) dropped down a bunt and then came around the score on an errant throw into the RF corner. Columbia Central continued to put the pressure on offensively getting out to an early 5-0 lead after 2 innings. Skipper worked 79-84 w/ some ASR and 1/7 curveball at 66-72, and he also broke up Jaden Hamm’s no-hit bid with a double during the top of the 6th.
Coffee County rallied in the late innings after forcing Hamm from the game, but Columbia was able to hold on for a 7-3 victory.
