Chattanooga Open: Quick Hits

Gabriel Byrd: Extremely athletic and long frame that already has a muscular stature. Quick runner posting a 6.78 60 yard dash. Really smooth traits in the infield where I believe he projects. Extremely nimble body that knows how to bend and work through the baseball, even being almost 6 foot 4. Made dialed throws over to first that held its line with minimal fade. 80 mph arm from across the diamond is something that he must work to improve on to stay put in the 6 hole. At the plate, he has a deep open stance with relaxed hands. Posted a Trackman exit velocity at 94 mph that went alongside a 23 mph hand speed when controlling the bat. Overall, Byrd offers a ton of projection and is really a nice player to watch. 

Devin Dobson: Strong and compact catcher with a muscular frame that has plenty of quick twitch attributes. 6.98 second runner at the sixty. Quick strides that show power and fluidity to his running shape. Behind the dish, shows mobile hips that can work as he shows polished blocking and receiving skills. 1.96 second pop time, and can speed that up with some additional arm strength. Offers off the charts rotational acceleration at 29 G’s, which is linked to direct power. This goes directly alongside 25 mph of hand speed. In some ways, he speeds himself up faster than he necessarily needs to. Offers a lot of projection in terms of physical ability and could stick behind home plate with additional mass added. 

Braiden Meredith: Athletic frame that has a great understanding of how to use it. Smooth runner with a 6.86 sixty. In the outfield, he has clean traits with a feel for working low and through the baseball. Slows himself down a bit and I believe is athletic enough to have a consistent flow of running in and lowering himself naturally to gather the baseball without really losing any momentum. Presents a left handed swing that makes consistently good barrels to all parts of the field, while showing the ability to get his hands inside up and in pitches. Controls the bat very well with really good on plane efficiency. Nice player and will develop even more in his game as he gains strength and size with maturity.
