2024 Junior Future Games: Team Tennessee, Workout Day Takeaways

Hunter Martin
TN Scouting Director

From Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, Prep Baseball is hosting the next edition of its prestigious Future Games and Junior Future Games at LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, GA., featuring the country's best uncommitted talent. And, for the first time ever, the Future Games is hosting not just its typical set of incoming juniors and freshmen, but also a 17U division of uncommitted Class of 2025 players who will participate in the inaugural Senior Future Games.

On the first day of the 2024 Future Games, all players representing grad classes 2025, 2026, and 2028 will be participating in a pro-style workout in front of a fleet of Division I coaches alongside fellow prospects representing nearly every state in the nation.

Inside this piece, we'll be highlighting some of top performers from Team Tennessee at the 2024 Prep Baseball Junior Future Games on the workout day.

TEAM TENNESSEE: WORKOUT DAY TAKEAWAYS

McClain Ridler OF / LHP / Summit High School, TN / 2028

The incoming freshmen for Summit has already had a standout performance at the 2024 Junior Futures Games, and we have yet to see him in the best aspect of his game. We have already had 2 looks at McClain this year and have been impressed each time. McClain has top tier athleticism with a very high ceiling in that department, with a frame to dream about at 6’1 and 160 pounds the ceiling is glass to be broken for him. He showed off a prototypical smooth lefty swing at the dish, mainly living to the poolside with backspun line drives. He utilizes 7 flat speed in the 60 to navigate the outfield with ease with an 87 mph to boot. Where he excels the most is on the bump, which should provide an electric look during games this week.  Yet to step foot as a student in highschool, there is alot to be excited about for the young southpaw.

Alex Potter RHP / 3B / Dickson County High School, TN / 2028

We got a very good look at the intriguing right handed swing of Alex Potter during BP during the Team Tennessee portion of the Junior Futures Games showcase. He has a wide, but balanced pre pitch with loose and controlled movements of his hands as he loads. Potter uses a fairly big forward move, but is able to load and hold his backside throughout the swing.  A very solid swing, who is also very solid on the other side of the ball, Potter is one to watch as we get later into the week here at Lake Point.

Fisher Green SS / RHP / Halls High School, TN / 2028

A standout performer from our Knoxville Rising Stars ID earlier this year, Green is one of 2 standout rising freshmen from Halls high school with us this year for the Junior Futures Games. Green flashes some serious potential out of his still developing 5’10 and 150 pound frame. During the showcase portion of the Junior Futures Games, he would impress throughout where he showed a 7.03 60 yard dash that should continue to decrease into the sub 7 range very soon. He shows an advanced feel for using his lower half at the plate, generating great space behind the ball staying through the zone very well. We will get a better glimpse at what is perhaps his highest ceiling during gameplay this week off of the mound. The right handed arm has impressed multiple times with an extremely easy mid 80s fastball with an advanced changeup and solid slider.  Alot to look forward to watching with the incoming freshmen during the JFG’s this week.

Grady Callaway C / 3B / Davidson Academy, TN / 2028

Callaway is a very physical and exciting prospect who will be attending Davidson Academy this fall, and should contribute right away to the varsity club. Callaway has an imposing 6’1 and 165 pounds that projects extremely well as he already has very solid strength in his lower half. Callaway has advanced feel for catching, who is already creeping lower and lower into the sub 2 poptimes as he posted a 1.9 on Wednesday. Callaway has a wide and balanced stance, with a no-stride move and generates great power through the swing. He is still leaving some juice left in his lower half as he can sink lower.  Callaway is going to be a very high follow throughout his highschool career as he gets stronger and even more physical.

Hudson Burnett OF / RHP / Halls, TN / 2028

The incoming freshman from Halls first launched himself onto our radar, and earned himself a trip to Lake Point to the Junior Futures Games earlier this month at our Chattanooga Summer ID. He continued to impress during the showcase portion of the 2024 Junior Futures Games.  He shows off electric athleticism in all aspects of his game, at this point he has now shown multiple sub 7 60 yard dashes while also flashing a mid 80s velo from the outfield which projects to much higher. He has a velo polished approach at the plate which really stood out the first time we saw him as well. He very maturely lets the ball travel and drives it the other way, not forcing pulled contact. A very interesting makeup, Burnett will be one to watch as he enters as a part of a very strong underclass squad for Halls.
