Last week, the Early Signing Period closed and we took a look at the breakdown of commitments in the 2016 Overall Rankings. Now we’ll highlight the college programs that had the most recruits in the rankings.
ARKANSAS
Recruits: 14 (5 in Top 100)
With two trips to the College World Series in the last four seasons, the Razorbacks are routine contenders in the SEC and the country. The headliner in their recruiting class is C Ben Rortvedt (Verona Area HS, WI)—one of the top high school hitters in the country. He may not make it to campus thanks to his status as a draft prospect and RHP Tyler Benninghoff (Rockhurst HS, MO) belongs in that conversation too. A projectable righty with a fastball that reaches the low 90s and a good curveball, he has a chance to climb boards in the spring. OF Jordan McFarland (Waterloo HS, IL) has a strong frame at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds and can punish the baseball from the right side. RHP Brenden Heiss (Jacobs HS, IL) consistently pitches in the low 90s and LHP Lucas Krull (Mill Valley HS, KS) gets up to 90-91 from the left side. Arkansas recruiting coordinator Tony Vitello certainly has depth with southpaws in the class, also adding Evan Lee (Bryant HS, AR), Matthew Cronin (Navarre HS, FL), Dylan Thompson (Catholic HS, AR) and Blake Lillis (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, KS) to the mix.
