16U WWBA Reports
July 12, 2018
Yesterday, we sat on 4 different games from the Perfect Game 16U WWBA in Atlanta. Our focus was mainly on Tennessee players (and we set our schedules accordingly), but players from other states stood out. These write-ups are sorted by state and we got video on players from out of state if it did not negatively impact our ability to get video on Tennessee players. Not mentioned within this write-up from the state of Texas is a couple arms from Texas 12 Maroon, 2020 LHP Matthew Bulovas, who was up to 85, and LHP Deven McGrath, who was 81-82 w/ arm-side run and mixed in a tight 70 CB. Read up below on standouts and check out the Twitter feed for video highlights!
SHAWN SCOTT / LHP / OF / CLARKSVILLE ACADEMY, TN / 2020FB (83-87), CB (68-70), CH (73-74) We saw the entirety of the lefties outing and he touched 87 three times while profiling with 3 above average or better pitches. 6-0, 172-pounder features a medium, lean frame w/ very little present strength. Super projectable, has just scratched the surface of his frame potential. Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ release from the third base of the rubber. Quiet, repeatable delivery. Super athletic, projects to repeat his delivery with reps. Will overthrow at times, learning that his velocity comes from his lower half and not his upper half. FB shows occasional short arm-side run. Tight medium downer CB wasn’t as dominant as we saw earlier this spring, but was still an above average offering. CH w/ arm-speed, fade and occasional short sink. Around the zone, bit of a thrower at this stage. Projects to command w/ reps. |
