trackman hitter of the week: 2023 c carter beck
Consistency is key to success in the batter’s box. Avoiding the types of batted balls that lead to outs is what hitters strive for and need to achieve to be successful.
While there were several hitters from Saskatchewan that impressed us when we made the trip out to Saskatoon last August, I don’t think there was a guy that impressed us more than Carter Beck. The reason for that is his combination of power and consistency in the box.
He has one of the best EVs in the country at 96.4mph. However, the more impressive number is his average EV and distance of 90mph and 288 ft, respectively. This tells us that he is hitting the ball hard and in the air. The other important number which ties into the previous metric is his sweet spot % of 81.8.
As aforementioned, avoiding those batted balls that lead to outs is key to success and he is doing just that. If his consistency can translate to in-game success he will be someone to follow this coming summer as he will be fun to watch.
