Super 60 Spotlight: Austin Henry

On Sunday, Feb. 6, Prep Baseball Report will host the 20th edition of its prestigious, flagship event: the Super 60 Pro Showcase. Since the event’s inception in 2003, more than 300 players have been selected in the MLB Draft, including 25 first-round picks and 26 second-rounders.

We started our march toward the Super 60 earlier this week by highlighting the prospects set to join us, shining a light on their impressive player profiles that they've groomed through their high school careers, leading them to this point, vying for the attention of the pro scouting community.


Scouting Report

3/13/21

Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-5, 205-pounds.
Delivery: Stretch only, athletic high leg kick, leans back through strides, falls off to first base side.
Arm Action: RH. Long clean arm swing, high OT slot.
FB: T93, 92-93 mph. Life on fastball, steep downhill plane, good control.
CB: 74-76 mph. Elite spin breaking ball, 12/6 and falls off table.
CH: 81-83 mph. Firm with avg. overall feel.

Long-limbed, high-waisted 6-foot-5, 205-pound frame on the mound. Wichita State commit. The projectable right-handed pitcher works from a feel-tempo delivery out of the stretch landing in-line with home plate and solid extension. Throws from a long, clean arm action with shoulder tilt and high-¾ release. Solid arm speed. Fastball sat 91-92 mph with spin averaging 2413 rpm. Sharp 12/6 curveball with depth thrown 73-76 mph, spinning at an impressive 3009 rpm. Changeup shows late fade action with above-average life, kept low in the zone at 80-83 mph. Tunnels changeup well with fastball.
