Commitment Tracker: Ingle to Clemson; Lenoir-Rhyne Securing Talent
September 6, 2018
The North Carolina Commitment Tracker will be a weekly blog to track players and programs through the recruiting process. Each week we will look players that have pledged their commitment with back ground on select players and their process. We will also look total commitment numbers across the state and profile select schools as they work to complete their 2019 class.
One of the top prospects in the 2020 class came off the board this past week. Cooper Ingle (C, AC Reynolds HS) pledged his commitment to Coach Monty Lee and the Clemson Tigers. Ingle was the target of schools across the region. He was a key cog in the 2018 run by AC Reynolds HS to the West Region Finals in the AAA State Tournament.
In June, Ingle impressed at the State Games of North Carolina. During the workout, Ingle showed advanced carry and accuracy on throws ranging 1.89 – 2.01. The pop times carried into game play where he shut offenses down with times between 1.97 – 2.07. The posted pop times were good enough in the workout and in games, to lead all catchers. A good athlete with quickness present, he ran a 7.26 sixty on the workout day. Offensively, there is quickness and barrel awareness with the bat. In games Ingle shows good strike zone awareness and pitch recognition.
Troy McGirt (1B, Purnell Swett, 2021) committed to Wake Forest. A strong summer with Akadema Prime (now Tri-State Arsenal South) drew a lot of attention from several ACC and SEC schools. In the end the big right handed hitter with big power potential choose to stay in-state and allow his bat to play in the friendly confines of Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Ballpark.
Jacob Peaden (RHP, North Pitt HS, 2019) made his decision to play with Coach Rucker Taylor and the Davidson Wildcats. After a successful summer with Pitt County Post 39. Peaden was up to 88 with a slider at 71-77.
Bryce Stober (C/MIF, Hickory HS, 2019) made his decision this week as well, joining a very promising class with Lenoir-Rhyne. Stober played with Hickory Post 48 this summer, displaying an ability to play just about anywhere on the field.

Program Spotlight – Lenoir Rhyne
Head Coach Tom Fleenor and is staff have been hard at work on the 2019 class and have put together the start of a very promising class. Along with Stober, this week, the Bears have added 3 middle infielders, 2 catchers, 4 arms and a power bat in Caleb Fluno (3B, Home Schooled, 2019).
Fluno, a member of Team Mid-Atlantic at the 2017 PBR Future Games has strength in his swing. At times a little long, he is still working to be on time with each swing, but when it is on time, the juice is real.
The arms in the class provide a unique blend of guys that may be ready on day 1 and guys that may have high ceilings as they continue to develop. There is a history of developing some power arms in Hiclory and we may look up in a few years talking about some of the guys in this class
