Carolinas Top of the Summer: Top Catcher Throws
September 21, 2021
PBR was working all summer to identify as many players for college coaches and pro scouts as possible throughout the summer of 2021. While the world was not completely back to normal, our scouting staff was able to attend PBR Events, PBR Tournaments, practices, games, workouts, and other events. With each event in the Carolinas, we will look back at some of the top performers from the summer of 2021

Top of the Summer: Top Catcher Throws
Â
Throughout the summer, PBR scouts were on hand to catcher pop times and positional velocity on pop throws. For pop times, PBR scouts used a hand held timer, capturing the time from when the ball hits the catcher's glove to the time it hits the MIF's glove at 2B. During these throws, PBR scouts had a radar gun capturing the velocity of each throw. These two metrics give scouts an understanding of arm strength and the ability to cut down stolen base attempts. Below are the top catcher pop times and positional velocities from the summer of 2021.
