In late May, as the High School season was over for most, the 5 Star Baseball organization ran its own version of a scout day, inviting college coaches and Prep Baseball Report for an early look at a number of their rosters.  Players ranged from 2019 - 2023 graduates.

With PBR in attendance, we were able to setup and run a laser timed 60 yard dash, as well as record pop times at Glenn High School.  Players then made the short drive to the spacious Diamond Xtreme facility in Kernersville, NC.  Inside Diamond Xtreme, pitchers threw full bullpens with coaches and scouts watching the arms and the receivers.  After the bullpen sessions, the 90'x90' cage was setup for BP.  Players rotated through several stations, including an exit velocity station, prior to the live, open cage.

Below are the numbers recorded by PBR on the day, along with leaders from each category.  In the coming days, we will release a few more notes from the workout, as well as highlighting players that stood out.

Top Max FB

Thirty-six total arms threw in front of scouts at Diamond XTreme.  Each arm threw on multiple mounds getting loose, and then moving to the main mounds where coaches were watching and the radar guns were rolling.   Below are the top velocities from the bullpen sessions

 

Top Exit Velocity

As players worked their way through the cages, one stop saw an exit velocity being taken off the bat.  Players had multiple opportunities off of a stationary tee, with a radar gun recording the exit velocity off the bat.  Below are the top exit velocities from the 5 Star event.

 

Top Catcher Pop Times

At Glenn HS, the catchers in the 5 Star organization were able to get loose and then throw workout pop times to 2B on the HS field.  PBR was on site to record the pop times.  Below are the top times from the 5 Star Organization Day.

 

Top 60 Yard Dash Times

PBR was on hand with a laser timer to conduct the players' 60 yard dash.  Each player one time, on the laser, with PBR recording the times.  The 60 was run on a grass surface at Glenn HS.  Below are the top 60 yard dash times from the 5 Star workout.
