The top 20 in the North Carolina Class of 2022 does not see a lot of adjustment.  The one major move comes from Clemson commit Calvert Clark (OF/RHP, Charlotte Christian).  Clark moves to No. 2 in the state after an absolutely electric performance at the Preseason All-State in Matthews, NC in late January.  Clark bumped 93 on the bump and continues to flash elite athleticism and quickness.  In the early spring, Clark showed the workout was not a flash in the pan, as he was off to a good start, making big strides from his Freshman year.

The North Carolina Class of 2022 rankings update expands the class to the top 150 players in the state.  From our last update at the end of the fall season, there was not a ton of game play, but players were seen at PBR events, high school practices, scrimmage games, and the shortened spring season.  Throughout the rankings, many players were not touched by PBR’s scouting staff.  The big moves and adjustments came from updating players that PBR scouts were able to see since the endo the fall season. 

 

New Players

Twenty five players make their initial appearance in the Class of 2022 rankings.  Jackson Humphries (LHP, Fuquay-Varina HS) and Michael Posse (INF/RHP, Christ School) lead the way at No. 33 and 35 respectively.  Humpries showed well at the Preseason All-State East, working with a quick arm and thin frame that should continue to add strength.

Posse is making his 1^st appearance in the Class of 2022 rankings but this is not his first appearance in a North Carolina rankings list.  Posse re-classed to the 2022 graduating class, from the 2021 class, with his move to The Christ School.  A potential dual prospect, Posse has upside with strength in his frame.

PBR will continue to profile new players to the 2022 rankings throughout the week.  Look for this class, and the depth of this class, to continue to grow as baseball starts back up.  Players typically begin to make big jumps during and after their Sophomore season, and we expect this rankings list to continue to grow.

 

High Risers

Michael Allen (OF, JH Rose HS) moved up six spots to No. 22.  The dual sport star was very impressive at the Preseason All-State in Greenville in early November.  A quick twitch athlete with power in his frame, Allen has a high ceiling and a lot of polish to his game, especially for a player that spends half his year toting the rock for the Rampants football program.

Similar to the newcomers to the rankings, PBR will continue to update players that made big jumps in the rankings throughout the week.
