2024 Future Games: Team South Carolina Quick Hitters - Outfielders/Catchers

From Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, Prep Baseball is hosting the next edition of its prestigious Future Games at LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Ga., featuring the country's best uncommitted talent. And, for the first time ever, the Future Games is hosting not just its typical set of incoming juniors and freshmen, but also a 17U division of uncommitted Class of 2025 players who will participate in the inaugural Senior Future Games.

On the first day of the 2024 Future Games, all players representing grad classes 2025, 2026, and 2028 will be participating in a pro-style workout in front of a fleet of Division I coaches alongside fellow prospects representing nearly every state in the nation.

Quick Hitters - Outfielders/Catchers

Slaide Burd, Hilton Head Christian Academy, OF, 2026

5-10 175.5 pound strong athletic frame.  Ball of energy that is into ever pitch during the game.  Realy competes at a high level but has tools to match is energy.  Hits at a high level, while shows great balance in the batters box.  Has a short compact swing with good bat speed while also showing off a great plate approach.  A line drive swing that can also show the ability to elevate the ball and drive it our of the park.  On workout day had a max exit velo of 94.8 mph, ran a 7.13 laser timed 60, and threw 89 mph from the OF.  Defensively, he has recently transitioned to the outfield.  While still learning the position his athleticsim allows him to make all the plays along with being able to play all 3 OF spots.  

Nathan Caldwell, Westwood HS, C, 2026

5-10 169.9 pound frame with present strength with room to grow.  Upright quite stance in the batters box while squaring up multiple balls on the workout day and producing a max exit velo of 92.8 moh and having an avg exit velo of 86.3 mph.  Showed good bat speed with the balst sensors up to 80.5.  Behind the plate was a quite mover and showed off quick footwork on throws while having a pop time range of 2.08-2.14 in workout,  In the game was able to threw out multiple runners while having a top in game time of 2.08!  Young man continues to improve and shows the ability to handle high end arms back be hind the plate.   

Charlie Scott, A.C. Flora HS, OF, 2026

5'11 168.4 athletic lean frame.  Charlie opened eyes right away on workout day while running a blazing fast 6.55 laser tinme 60 and then continued on in the workout and showing off his arm strength while getting up to 88 mph for the outfield.  Had a great workout but that carried over into the games as well showing off his speed while scoring from 2B on a hard ground ball to short stop.  Shows good bat speed with his swing while also showing the ability to catch up to velo and use the whole field in his approach.  Defensively obvisouly his speed helps him temendously in the outfield and showing comfort in playing each OF position.  Made a big timing diving catch in game play.  

Will Watson, Pinewood Prep, OF, 2026

6-1 169.5 pound lean athletic projectable frame.  Young man oozes athleticism while showing off his abilties all throughout workout day.  With the bat went exit velo up to 101.9 mph with an avg exit velo of 94.4 mph.  Ran a 6.92 laser timed 60 while also showing off his arm strength with a top bolt of 88 mph for the outfield.  In game play showed off his ability to hit while on game 3 winning the game MVP going 4-4.  In the batters box showed confidence along with good balance and had good bat speed with a line drive approach that allowed him to drive the ball around the field. 

Banks Wickersham, Fort Dorchester HS, C/RHP, 2026

5-11 196 pound strong physical frame.  Good athlete that has the ability to play all over the field.  This week showcased himself behind the plate and with the bat at a high level.  Lot of success with the bat over the week showing he can handle off types of pitchers while having a whole field approach and showing he can drive to the ball to all fields with power.  Strength at contact with bat speed allows him to let the ball travel and have a great plate approach.  Behind the the plate shows good agility and mobilty allowing him to recieve, block, and throw at a high level.  Threw multiple runners out in games with consistent 2.0 game pop times while in workout was 1.98-2.01.  Also showed off his speed with a laserd time 60 at 7.03.  

Luke Young, Clinton HS, C, 2026

6-1 177.9 pound frame with present strength.  Luke shows a quite confidence about him and his games.  In the workout portion he raise some eyes with a consistent BP.  Went max exit velo of 97.5 mph but had a avg exit velo 90 mph.  Behind the plate showed off his abiluty to really throw while havong a pop time range of 1.91-1.94.  In game play continued to show off that arm strength and quick release while producing a 1.87 and a 1.96.  Shows quick release and great footwork on throws.  Good mobility behind the allowing him to move well and with ease.  With the bat slows a bat path that stays in the zone allowing for consistency in swings.  Continues to improve with the bat each time we see him.
