2023 PBR All-American Game, Spotlight: Matthew Brown
September 4, 2023
On Saturday, Sept. 23, Prep Baseball Report is hosting its inaugural High School All-American Game at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The unique event will feature the nation’s top high school seniors who are set to battle against a roster of the country’s best juniors in Class of 2024 vs. Class of 2025 action, giving pro scouts a unique look at current and future draft classes.
We’ve begun to unveil the event’s participants on our social media channels, and we’ll spotlight those players more closely on our site, too, highlighting past performances and scouting reports from the live looks we’ve gathered on this gifted group throughout the years.
We are highlighting Matthew Brown, an Ontario native and the top-ranked player in Canada's 2024 class. The 2022 PBR Future Games participant committed to Oklahoma State shortly after a stellar performance at LakePoint. Hosting a professional frame at 6-foot-5, 205-pounds, Brown is dripping with upside. He will make the trip to Milwaukee later this month for the first ever PBR All-American Game.
Prep Baseball Report's VP of Scouting Shooter Hunt had this to say about Brown following his standout performance at the 2022 PBR Future Games: "Part of a loaded roster coming out of Canada, Brown set the tone for a huge week from our neighbors to the north. At 6-foot-5, 185-pounds, the athletic right-hander holds significant upside with present stuff. The fastball worked 87-89 at the Future Games thanks to a short, quick arm stroke and aggressive intent out front. The late life to the arm side was devastating at times, and should help allow him to pitch off the fastball in future looks. His shorter, 77-80 slider was thrown for strikes and holds significant upside as a potential out-pitch. Still growing into his long frame, there is already plenty to like about Brown, and he is sure to have plenty of college coaches monitoring him closely moving forward."
