2022 Future Games: Team Carolina Positional Breakdown - MIF

The 2022 Future Games took place on July 27-30 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. The event features the top uncommitted 2024 and 2025 prospects from across the country and was attended by more than 350 colleges from across all parts of the country. 

Below we take a look at the position players from North Carolina who were part of a very talented Team Carolina club that had a ton of eyes on it throughout the event and went on to win its pool.

BOAZ HARPER / 2B / HOME SCHOOL, NC / 2024

Boaz Harper, MIF, 2024

5-foot-11, 165-pound frame with strength and quickness present. Athletic defender with fluid actions. Showed comfort at both spots in the middle, has the feet and hands to handle third base as well. Good bend in the hips with feel for getting the right hop, catches the ball out front with soft hands, funnels to the midsection with easy transitions. Can make plays on the run and throw from a variety of angles. Plays faster in game than his 6.98 60 time. Arm reached 82 mph during the workout. Switch hitter who shows bat speed from both sides. Aggressive swings with the ability to use the whole field. Posted a top exit velocity of 96.2 mph in BP with an average EV of 86 mph. Barreled a ball to deep center and made solid contact on another ball to his pull side while hitting left handed, competes throughout his at bats.

 


BRADEN MAURO / DANIEL, SC / 2024

6-foot-2, 170-pound long, lean frame with projection ahead.  Athleticism on the infield with the ability to play multiple spots in the future. Plays relaxed with good bend in his lower half. Catches the ball out front with trust in his hands and clean exchanges. Quick arm with carry to his throws across the infield that topped at 88 mph. Left hand hitter. Simple and balanced with looseness to his swing. Slightly uphill path that gets extension out front with the ability to use the whole field. Hands are quick with a peak exit velocity at 88.3 mph.  Barreled a ball to his pull side in game action. Quickness in his projectable frame suggests more pop to come in the future. 

 

 

RAFAEL SOTO JR / 2B / P27 ACADEMY , SC / 2024

5-foot- 8, 170-pound frame with present strength and athleticism. Defensive ability stands out with silky smooth actions and the ability to stay at short in the future.  Advanced first step making it easy for him to attack balls and get the right hop. Plays with balance and has the strength in his lower half to get more on throws when needed. Soft hands with the instincts and ability to get the ball out quickly when needed.   Switch hitter with a simple, balanced setup.  Uses a toe tap to load up and has a flat path through the ball for a line drive approach with hard contact.  Lined two balls to his pull side in game action. Top exit velocity at 96.5 mph on workout day.
