2018 Northwoods ML Dreams Showcase- Pitchers

With several previous posts dedicated to prospect summaries (June 19 June 26 July 6 July 16 July 25 All-Star Hitters All-Star Pitchers) from our coverage of the Northwoods League this summer, we turned our attention to the top tools and other measurables at the Major League Dreams Showcase on August 7 in Madison, WI. Yesterday we looked at standout position players. Today we look at pitchers.
FASTBALL VELOCITY
Everyone loves watching radar gun readings on the scoreboard (even the players) and this showcase was no different. The absolute smokeshow of velo coming towards home plate was astounding. The old industry standard of a 90 mph fastball was blown away by the new standard slowly creeping towards 95. In total, 32 pitchers saw time on the bump during the double-header showcase. Nearly all of them touched or exceeded 90. Half of them threw at least one pitch (on our radar gun) at or above 93 mph. And one of them touched 102. Yes, 102. He also touched 101 three times.
