Jack Wentworth OF / RHP / South Kingstown, RI / 2021Rankings StateRank: 63 / POS: 10
WAKEFIELD, R.I. - Jack Wentworth knew what he was looking for when it came to his baseball future. “For me it was about playing somewhere with high-level baseball and high academics,” the South Kingstown junior explained. “I’ve always wanted that. At the same time, I wanted high competitiveness to help make me better on the field and in the classroom.” And where might the 63rd-ranked 2021 in New England find that? “Seton Hall has all that,” proclaimed Wentworth, who recently committed to the Big East Conference school. The Future Games and a team camp ignited the connection between the 6-2 170-pounder and Seton Hall. “That’s where they saw me,” Wentworth noted. “That’s when everything took off and they wanted to talk to me. We started talking on a weekly basis. They wanted me to come down on an unofficial visit. “I knew 10 minutes in that it was the place I wanted to be. The first thing the coach showed was construction of their new stadium. It’s going to be awesome. Basically all the athletic facilities were the best I’ve seen. The campus was a perfect size and the classes were smaller. That’s a better fit for me.” Columbia, Maine, Bryant, Rhode Island and Central Connecticut State were all being considered by Wentworth before Seton Hall jumped to the front. “There was always a different campus feel,” Wentworth said of his visits during the recruiting process. “But when I drove into campus to meet the coach at Seton Hall I was thinking this is awesome.” One key component of his game was noticed by Seton Hall. |
