Super 60 - Canadian Preview
The Super 60 is the premier showcase each year on the PBR calendar for draft prospects heading into their senior year. In previous years the event has hosted tons of big leaguers including Danny Jansen and Ryan Borucki of the Toronto Blue Jays as well as two of baseball’s top prospects, Gavin Lux and Jarred Kelenic.
Blue Jays’ 29th-rounder and current University of Alabama outfielder Owen Diodati was the lonely Canadian in Chicago, Illinois last year in front of over 100 pro scouts.
Canada will bring a little more pedigree to the Max-McCook Athletic & Exposition Center this time around with four representatives. The talent is spread out as well with shortstop Bryce Arnold and outfielder Owen Caissie from the Fieldhouse Pirates (Ontario), catcher Raphael Pelletier from ABC Academy (Quebec) and right-hander Simon Lusignan from the Okotoks Dawgs Academy (Alberta).
All four attended the 2019 ProCase as well as the 2018 Future Games which led to commitments to Campbell, Michigan, TCU and Stetson.
Simon Lusignan RHP / Foothills Composite, AB / 2021Report: Long, lean frame from the 6-foot-5, 195-pound Stetson commit and the athleticism jumps out immediately which allows him to repeat his delivery with ease. Fastball sat 84-87 with minimal effort at T12 in September but he was up to 92 in a mid-January bullpen. Has pitchability and feel for his stuff, including a curveball that can be very difficult for hitters when he gets on top of it. Lusignan is the only 2021 on the roster as there can be a little confusion with players from who attended high school in Quebec butt word from MLB commissioner's office confirmed that Lusignan will officially be in the 2021 draft class.
