Day 2: Florida Limited Series

While the bats stole the show on Day 1 of the inaugural PBR Limited Series in Florida, Day 2 brought with it some impressive outings and pure stuff from the pitchers. Facing some of the top hitters in the country, these arms grabbed my attention:

THE ARMS

Alejandro Torres, RHP, Belin Jesuit HS, FL (2019)
Torres, a Florida International recruit, is durably built at 6-foot-2, 235-pounds, and was up to 93 mph on the day. Working mostly 88-91, the big right-hander found the bottom of the strike zone with the fastball which featured some arm side life. His arm shows continues movement throughout a shorter swing before delivering out of a high ¾ slot with quick hand speed out front. Throwing over a slightly higher front shoulder, Torres flashed a swing and miss slider (77-79) at times. His stronger lower-half allows him to get strong push off the rubber before getting extended out front. He showed regular effort while maintaining his velocity throughout the outing, and I would not be surprised if his velocity continues to tick up over the next year.
