Who are uncommitted seniors to know in each state?
October 31, 2024
The ‘Hotlist’ is a series that provides weekly insight into the high school baseball scene spanning the country, curated by Prep Baseball’s state directors who are situated nationwide, with vital intel on the prospects who are in their own backyards. Each week, we’ll publish our ‘Hotlist’ on varying topics that are timeliest to the national baseball calendar at that point in time.
This week’s topic: It's been a little while since we've highlighted uncommitted seniors, and now might be a good time to circle back to this group as we head into the true offseason. Let's highlight a player who recently decommitted from a program, or a senior that stood out at a fall showcase or tournment.

♨️ The ‘Hotlist’ (10/31):
Alabama
+ Carson Mann, OF (Vestavia Hills HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 190-pounds. One of the premier uncommitted athletes in the 2025 class in Alabama with present strength to proportional frame. Continues to show up at events and perform at a high-level after a strong spring for one of the top programs in Class 7A. Balanced left-handed stance with minimal pre-pitch movement. Short, simple stride allows him to be on-time and works the barrel on an uphill plane through the zone. Plenty of strength at contact and heavy, whippy barrel meets the ball for higher exits. Has the numbers and metrics to back up his performance at the event, posting a 6.60 60-yard dash, working up to 83 mph from the OF, and registering a top EV of 98.8 mph during his round of BP. Superior athleticism with good physical strength. Also performed during gameplay with an absolute no-doubter to LCF. Definite uncommitted name to know in the 2025 class in Alabama who should not be uncommitted for too much longer.”
– Austin Sharp, Scouting Director
California
+ Blake Helsper, C (Canyon HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Helsper showed his ability to fit this mold with one of the strongest position player performances on the day at the OC Uncommitted Games. Consistent 2.0-2.05 pop times with 76 MPH C arm velocity and low carry to his throws. A very strong BP showing a compact direct LH swing that consistently hit the ball hard from the middle/pull side of the field with a line drive based swing. Helsper peaked at 91.8 MPH on Trackman, but also averaged 84.8 MPH exit velocity with a 358' max distance on a ball that hit the top of the RCF wall. In-game, Helsper singled to the right side of the field in his first two plate appearances while managing various pitchers he caught throughout the day.”
– Les Lukach, California State Director
California
+ Devon Wilkes, 1B (Pacifica HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Ventura County Uncommitted Game: Wilkes was a vital piece of the Pacifica High School run to the CIF-SS D5 semifinals and in claiming the CIF-South Regional Title in 2024 as an impact LH bat who also was an important arm on the mound for the Tritons. Coming into the Ventura County Uncommitted event Wilkes had tweaked his hamstring slightly which limited him to hitting and defensive work, but no athletic testing and that was plenty for the 6' 230 lbs. Wilkes to earn a spot on this list. He showed good actions with a soft glove moving around at 1B even with a tender hamstring that projects as at least a solid defender who can be even better when fully healthy. But, what Wilkes did at the plate in batting practice and in game was uber impressive. During BP he crushed 4 balls over the 100 MPH mark on Trackman including a peak exit velocity of 107.2 MPH on a missile line drive which he topped with a 103.5 MPH 412-foot home run over the scoreboard and 100-foot-high tree into the road behind it on campus which was a majestic drive. Wilkes showed bat speed over 83 MPH, hand speed over 28 MPH, 16.6 G's of rotational acceleration and an 86% hard hit rate while averaging 95.9 MPH on his exit velocity. During game play he drew a walk facing a LH arm on the mound and then turned around a letter high FB for a double to the RCF gap. His offensive impact is easily noticeable and as an uncommitted '25 can be a valuable LH hitting impact addition to a college programs lineup.”
– Steven Hardesty, North L.A./Central California Area Scout
California
+ Myles Cooper, 2B/3B (Benicia HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Myles Cooper 2B / 3B / Benicia High, CA / 2025 (NorCal Uncommitted Games)
If we had decided to award an MVP for the event Cooper would have been the front runner for it. The 6' 180 lbs INF from NorCal showed off his tool set during the workout portion including an impact bat which peaked at 98.3 MPH on exit velocity while averaging 94.5 MPH with an 86% sweet spot rate and a 359' max distance. He gets there with present bat speed 73.7 MPH, hand speed 21.3 MPH and a 100% hard hit rate during batting practice. He shows a 2B/3B defensive profile with good feet, hands and an accurate arm. Once the game play portion started Cooper took it up a level with a pair of well struck extra base hits to the RCF gap including an easy stand up triple while making a pair of impressive plays at 2B. Offensive impact with a INF defensive profile and feel to play in game Cooper is going to be a great grab for a college program.”
– Hank LoForte, Associate Director, NorCal
Colorado
+ Josh McWilliams, OF (Chaparral HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“McWilliams is a standout uncommitted senior from the 2024 West Coast Games. During Team Colorado's trip to California, McWilliams racked up the extra base hits all weekend long, displayed quality baseball IQ, and strong instincts on the base paths. The athletic outfielder comes with a 97 mph top exit velocity, a 74 mph max bat speed, a 6.7 60 yard dash, and an 84 mph outfield throwing velocity. McWilliams is 5'10'' with twitchy strength and athleticism and is a surging name to know within the state at the moment. ”
– Caleb Dameron, Colorado Staff
Connecticut
+ Derek Davis, OF (Fairfield Warde HS, 2025) | :
“A right-handed hitter, balanced, simple approach with pop in the hands. Looks to stay in the middle of the field. Advanced feel for hitting. ”
– Trevor Brown, Scouting Director
Florida
+ Nick Diaz, OF/1B (Stoneman Doughlas HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Nick Diaz is one of the top uncommitted players in the country. 6-foot-5, 180 pounds from powerhouse Stoneman Douglas. A Future Games alum, Diaz has re-opened his recruitment and can be an instant impact hitter at the next level.”
– Rocco Iervasi, Managing Director
Illinois
+ Chase Petersen , OF (Glenbrook North HS, 2025) | Uncommitted :
“Petersen continued his strong summer down at the Senior Future Games. During the workout day, the strong 5-foot-8, 183-pound outfielder ran a 6.91 60, put up a max vertical of 32”, and also reached 84 mph on a crow hop from the outfield. He showed well during batting practice as well - reaching a max exit velocity of 94.8 mph (avg. 90.8) paired with a max distance of 324 feet. Petersen’s Blast metrics also stood out, as he had a max bat speed of 86.4 mph (avg. 75.7), and a max hand speed of 24.4 mph (avg. 22.5). Petersen continued to show well during gameplay with the bat - finding barrels throughout the week.”
– Pete Hamot, Assistant Director Illinois/Wisconsin
Illinois
+ Ryan Lazewski , MIF (Fenwick HS, 2025) | Uncommitted :
“Illinois State Games: Lazewski is a must-know uncommitted name in the state. Presenting a long-levered, projectable frame at 6-foot, 162-pounds, Lazewski showed well on both sides of the ball throughout game play at the State Games. Offensively, the left-handed hitter has an athletic swing through the zone that produced line-drive contact to pair with a simple and patient approach. To go with the in-game results, Lazewski also had a loud round of batting practice - posting an average exit velocity of 91.3 mph (T94.5). Defensively, primarily playing up the middle, he showed a natural feel for the glove in both spots paired to go with an accurate arm that should allow him to stick up the middle moving forward.”
– Pete Hamot, Assistant Director Illinois/Wisconsin
Illinois
+ Cody Freitas , RHP (Bradley-Bourbonnais HS, 2025) | Uncommitted :
“Freitas has long been one of the top arms in the state. He consistently can work into the low-90s with the fastball, setting up a swing and miss slider along with a fading changeup. We have seen him throw it well numerous times, and one thing that consistently stands out is his ability to attack the zone with all of his pitches, primarily the FB/SL. He even provides some intrigue on the other side of the ball; wielding a strong right-handed swing with a max EV right around 98 mph. He can also hold his own on the infield with sure-handed actions that pair with his aforementioned arm-strength. ”
– Pete Hamot, Assistant Director Illinois/Wisconsin
Illinois
+ Blaine Williams , C/RHP (Tremont HS, 2025) | Uncommitted :
“Preseason ProCase: Williams is the lone junior headed to this year’s Preseason ProCase. He stands in a hard-to-miss frame at 6-foot, 195-pounds with plenty of strength throughout. The Central Illinois native has one of the strongest arms in the state, regardless of class, with his best bullet being recorded at 85 mph on throws down to second while popping a 1.91 from the chute. At the plate, he’s direct to the ball and makes contact with authority, averaging 88.4 mph off the bat during BP last winter. We’ve also seen his fastball up to 89.3 mph with reports of his velocity being higher since we last saw him on the mound.”
– Pete Hamot, Assistant Director Illinois/Wisconsin
Indiana
+ Jaxon Sparks, LHP/OF (Fort Wayne Carroll HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Sparks is a talented uncommitted senior, the highest ranked prospect still left on our board. Heading into the spring as a major helium candidate after performing extremely well at our Preseason All-State event, Sparks got off to a great start to his junior campaign before suffering an injury on a freak-accident collision that caused him to miss the rest of the 2024 spring, summer, and fall. Sparks is a real two-way prospect, boasting a physical, 6-foot-2, 215 pound frame. A Future Gamer in 2023, Sparks runs his fastball up to 91 from the left-side, with a balanced delivery that allows him to throw three pitches for strikes on a routine basis. Along with offering a high-floor look on the bump, Sparks is a OF/1B with big metrics, including - a 6.63 60-yard dash, 100 mph exit velocity, and a 92 mph arm from the outfield. ”
– Cooper Trinkle, Indiana Scouting Director
Iowa
+ Will Specht, OF (Dubuque Wahlert HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Positional Profile: OF
Body: 6-foot, 170-pound LHH outfielder. 6.83 runner in the 60. Plays uptempo in the field, comfortable with easy actions, confident glove and angles/routes are appropriate, avg. arm strength with solid online carry and accuracy at 81 mph. Simple narrow stance, line drive hitter, repeats swing well, mid pull approach, solid pop in bat. 92.00 mph max exit velocity per Trackman during BP.”
– Rob Allison, Upper Midwest Supervisor
Kansas
+ Brad Janes, RHP (De Soto HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“A recent de-commit from Nebraska, Janes has some of the best swing and miss stuff and deception of any right-hander in the KS Class. The right-hander throws multiple pitches from multiple spots, featuring a fastball up to 91 and a swing and miss slider. Janes will look to become one of the front line starters for one of the most talented teams in the state this year. ”
– Andy Urban, Central Region Scouting Supervisor
Kansas
+ Connor Bohon, OF (Mill Valley HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“One of the most improved players in the state last year, Bohon is a must see uncommitted prospect. The multi-sport star has the athleticism to play all over the baseball field. Offensively, the right-handed hitter continue to improve, showing that he can hit for power and average. ”
– Andy Urban, Central Region Scouting Supervisor
Louisiana
+ Griffin Sibley, C (Benton HS, 2025) | Uncommitted :
“Sibley is one of the returning leaders off a Benton squad that finished as state semifinalists last spring and will look to make another run in 2025. The uncommitted senior backstop had a nice showing at the Louisiana State Games this past fall, as he recorded personal bests across several categories including max exit velocity at 96.8 mph, 60 yard dash at 7.25, and arm strength from the crouch at 76 mph. ”
– Alex Armand, Louisiana State Director
Louisiana
+ Karson Trichel, RHP (Ouachita Christian HS, 2025) | Uncommitted :
“Trichel has been one of the most successful pitchers in the state of Louisiana, since he stepped foot on campus as a freshman, as he Ouachita Christian on the mound to back-to-back state titles as a freshman and sophomore in 2022 and 2023. Last spring, he went 8-1 for the Eagles and after getting upset in the quarterfinals by Glenbrook, we fully expect him and his Eagle teammates to play with their hair on fire in 2025. ”
– Alex Armand, Louisiana State Director
Massachusetts
+ Cole Mullen, RHP (North Andover HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Mid 80's right-hander with good pitchability. Floods the zone with his fastball and shows good secondary pitches. He pitches aggressively and is not scared to take the ball at any point. He is an arm that will be counted on in a college program ”
– Dennis Healy, Co- Owner PBR New England
Michigan
+ Daniel Seymour, SS (Rochester Adams HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“A projectable infielder who has flexibility on infield to play SS, 3B and 2B, Seymour is poised for a big spring at Adams HS. Standing at 6'2 185, he presents a solid approach in the box is a reliable defender. After a strong spring and outing at TPG '24, Seymour was selected for Senior Future Games in Emerson. A prospect all regional staffs should make an effort to see this winter / spring. ”
– Adam Goodwin, Michigan Scouting Director
New Hampshire
+ Brendan Horne, SS (Pinkerton Academy HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Excellent athlete that can stay in the middle of field. Shows plus hand speed with the bat and can really defend. Played in the 2023 Future Games and showed well as a plus defender and homered in game play. Shocked he is still out there as he is a legit athlete. ”
– Dennis Healy, Co-Owner PBR New England
New York
+ Jude Flint, OF/3B (Amsterdam HS, 2025) | Uncommitted :

Athletic in the field (6.96 60 speed) with good arm strength (OF velocity- 87mph). Aggressive lower half at the plate. Impressive barrel control showing power from gap-to-gap. Exit velocity up to 101mph. ”

“Flooded the stat sheet on the workout day of the NC Top Prospect Games. Ran a 6.69 on the laser while posting a max exit velocity of 96.5mph. Right handed hitting outfielder has a physical presence at 6-foot-1, 192 pounds. The workout performance carried over into game action, showing an ability to get the barrel to solid pitching. ”
– Brandon Hall, Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director
Ohio
+ Hunter Richardson, LHP/OF (Butler HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Hunter recently reopened his recruitment after decommitting from the University of Kentucky. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound southpaw is an elite competitor on the mound that throws 3 pitches for strikes. Hunter is a standout two-way player at one of the top program's in the state, a very well coached kid with a long track record of success.
FB: 86-88,T90 (16”+ IVB/ 10”+HM)
SL: 76-77
CH: 78-80 ”
– Kyle Weldon, Scouting Director
Ohio
+ Luke Pappano, LHP/OF (Archbishop Moeller HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Luke recently decommitted from Ole Miss and is back on the open market. Luke spent the 2024 season rebounding from tommy john which kept him off the mound, however he put together a great season at the plate. A legitimate two-way threat at the next level he handles the bat well and can change a game with his speed. There is major upside on the mound, prior to TJ he was sitting 87-88 with a 12-6 breaking ball that at times looked unhittable.”
– Kyle Weldon, Scouting Director
Ohio
+ Andrew Visconti, LHP (William Mason HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Andrew recently decommitted from the University of Louisville.
One of the biggest 6-month physical transformations I've seen in the last 10 years. Visconti has added 20-25 pounds to his frame and looks ready to step onto a campus next fall and compete immediately. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound southpaw recently reopened his recruitment and will look to impress evaluators with his newfound physicality. Last we saw Visconti he was 84-86 T88, no reason not to believe he's primed to make a velocity jump this winter with a frame that can support it. ”
– Kyle Weldon, Scouting Director
Oklahoma
+ Noah Entrekin, LHP (Edmond Memorial HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Entrekin pitches off his upper-80s FB and provides plenty of deception for opposing hitters. His crossfire delivery consistently gets him in plus counts with the ability to land all three pitches in the zone. He also mixes in a big overhand CB and CH. Recently, Entrekin's recruitment was reopened making him one of the "highest ceiling" uncommitted in the region with much more in the tank.”
– Bret Schwartz, Scouting Director
Ontario
+ Josh Bushen, OF/C (Fieldhouse Pirates HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Bushen carried his strong summer season into the West Coast Games in early October showing well with the bat during the workout day (94.7 mph EV), and during gameplay collecting multiple hits over the three games. Line-drive approach while using the whole field against strong pitching staffs from Team PNW, California, and Utah. An easy left-handed bat that is still on the market for schools to pick up.”
– Josh Arcé, Scouting Director
Pennsylvannia
+ Ben Peterson, Catcher/OF (Canon-Mcillan HS, 2025) | Uncommitted :
“Twitchy, highly athletic catcher. East Coast Pro invite has elite arm strength (POP time 1.90-2.01, Catcher Velocity- 82mph, OF Velocity- 93mph). Compact swing, has very quick hands and good bat extension. Shows big juice in the barrel to the pull side.”
– Charlie Spano, VP of Scouting PA/NY
South Carolina
+ Justin Sheffield, OF (Atlantic Collegiate HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Electric bat speed with power to all fields, creating serious whip to the barrel through the zone. Real pull side pop with ability to use all fields for line drives. Good Athlete that continues to improve each time we see him play. ”
– Sammy Esposito, South Carolina State Director
South Dakota
+ Jackson Dial, RHP (Rapid City Stevens HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Future Games participant, Dial recently decommitted from Arizona State back on October 23rd. A projectable righty arm with high end metrics on the mound. Dial's fastball sits in the mid to upper 80s with high spin, as well as big numbers on his breaking ball. A clean arm and efficient mover, Dial is the highest ranked uncommitted player from South Dakota.”
