Which 2026 prospects starred all spring?

The ‘Hotlist’ is a series that provides weekly insight into the high school baseball scene spanning the country, curated by Prep Baseball’s state directors who are situated nationwide, with vital intel on the prospects who are in their own backyards. Each week, we’ll publish our ‘Hotlist’ on varying topics that are timeliest to the national baseball calendar at that point in time.

This week’s topic: With the Class of 2026 rankings updating in each state across the nation, share the name of a '26 prospect who starred for his high school this spring.

♨️ The ‘Hotlist’ (5/30):

Arizona

+ Ben Ball, OF (Hamilton HS, 2026) | Arizona commit:

“Ball was the lone 2026 to crack Arizona's First Team All-State as he swung the bat at an extremely high-level for Hamilton HS this spring. In his first year as a full-time starter at the 6A level, the Arizona commit batted .471 with a .575 OBP and eight extra-base hits.

Arizona's 2026 class is littered with elite outfielders and Ball finds himself towards the top of that list. After a strong sophomore season, it'll be fun to see what he's able to accomplish over the next two seasons.”

Canada

+ Sean Duncan, LHP (Port Coquitlam HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Duncan is the top-ranked 2026 in Canada and has been on a tear to begin 2024, dominating high school players while also showing well against professional hitters. Earlier this month on Team Canada Dominican Trip, the BC product worked six innings against pro hitters and allowed just two runs, three hits, two walks and struck out 10.

Has been the face of Canada's 2026 class for several years now and his phone will be the most popular one in the country come Aug. 1.”

Colorado

+ Hudson Alpert, RHP/SS (Regis Jesuit HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Alpert is Colorado's No. 1-ranked 2026 prospect and he continues to excel within the state. This spring, Alpert chucked 44.2 innings with 52 Ks and a 3.29 ERA while hitting .354 with a home run across 92 plate appearances. The Regis Jesuit sophomore comes with a fastball that often hits 90-plus mph and a slider that spins at around 2,500 rpm. Alpert has a wiry and athletic body that comes with long levers and plenty of twitchy strength. The Raiders have been led by Alpert and his impressive squad to the 5A state championship game in 2024.”

Idaho

+ Nathan Keith, SS/C (Owyhee HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“On Owyhee's run to their third-straight 5A State Championship, Keith was their top producing sophomore as hit .437 with a .565 OBP across 26 games this year.

The uncommitted infielder also chipped in with 29 RBIs, six triples, six doubles and swiped six bases. Owyhee has several top players graduating and Keith will be looked upon as an offensive leader over his final two seasons.”

Illinois

+ Tony Eberlin, RHP (Edwardsville HS, 2026) | TCU commit:

“Eberlin has been a key contributor to the Tigers' success this season, boasting a 6-1 record with 40.1 innings pitched, a 3.12 ERA and 44 strikeouts.”

Indiana

+ Jake Winger, 3B (McCutcheon HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Winger has been rising his way through our 2026 rankings over the course of the past year and a breakout sophomore spring elevated him to No. 9 in this class within our most recent update.

A projectable, athletic 6-foot-3, 210-pound right-handed hitter, Winger batted .442 for No. 7-ranked 4A McCutcheon this spring, collecting 12 doubles, a triple, two home runs, 36 RBIs (among the state's leaders), along with reaching base at a .546 clip. Winger helped McCutcheon to a sectional title just days ago, and he will garner significant attention from recruiters on the circuit this summer.”

Louisiana

+ Evan Vincent, LHP (Teurlings Catholic HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“The sophomore southpaw had missed two weeks of school, due to mononucleosis, leading up to right before the state tournament and wasn’t in the lineup for the Rebels semifinal win. In the state title game, Teurlings Catholic head coach, Brooks Badeaux, called on Vincent to take the mound in the sixth inning, in what was a 2-2 ballgame between the Rebels and St. Louis Catholic. Fast-forward to the 11th inning and Vincent had tossed six fantastic relief innings, giving up one unearned run on three hits with four strikeouts, as Teurlings Catholic won the LHSAA Select D-II State Title. For his gutsy performance, Vincent was named Most Outstanding Player.”

Minnesota

+ Andrew Gette, RHP (Mounds View HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Gette has pitched in some big games against arguably some of the best competition in the state this spring. The big righty, at 6-foot-4, 195 pounds, is currently ranked second in Minnesota's 2026 class and he has led the way for Mounds View High. Logging 48 innings across eight games started, he's earned six wins and he's allowed just 28 hits, 10 earned runs, while striking out 63 batters, and he has a 1.46 ERA. Gette will be a strong follow for the rest of spring and into the summer.”

Nevada

+ Tate Southisene, IF/OF (Basic Academy HS, 2026) | USC commit:

“Southisene, a USC commit and a Future Games and ProCase alum, was on a tear at the dish from start to finish this year as he picked up a hit in every game but two on the season. One of the top incoming senior prospects in the state, Southisene provided a big punch to the Basic Academy lineup as he batted .576 and flashed the ability to drive the ball for extra-bases as he had seven home runs, four triples and ten doubles.

He continued to get stronger as the season went along as he picked up a hit in every game from March 15th onward and racked up multiple hits in 11 of his final 12 games. In a Basic Academy lineup that boasts several big-time offensive weapons, Southisene led the way in nearly every major offensive category including average, on-base percentage and home runs. As a result, he was named the Prep Baseball Nevada Player of the Year last week.

In his first three years in the Wolves lineup, Southisene has already made a major impact on the program as he's batting .495 on his career with 36 extra-base hits and those numbers will continue to climb as he enters his senior season. The USC commit will be a fun watch over the summer as he continues to get looks for the 2025 MLB Draft and will get his summer started in early June at our Prep Baseball ProCase West in Malibu, Cali.”

North Carolina

+ Meridian Leffew, SS (Gaston Christian HS, 2026) | Miami commit:

“Leffew made a big jump in our pre-spring rankings update as the body has continued to fill out and the athleticism has continued to grow. The strength and agility gains showed up in winter workouts, and translated to the field. With his spring, he has announced himself as one of the top players in the 2026 class and he will be a draft follow as he moves through his junior year and beyond. During the 2024 season for Gaston Christian, Leffew hit .516 with seven homers, six doubles, three triples, and he walked 11 times against just 13 Ks in 76 plate appearances.”

Utah

+ Cayman Sanchez, MIF/RHP (Olympus HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Sanchez did not surprise us with his play up the middle of the field and on the mound this spring. Where he did make a big jump and surprise us was in the power he showed – his twitchy young build produced 17 extra-base hits, with five clearing the fence. Hitting behind a USC and Salt Lake CC commit, Sanchez protected the duo with his own offensive prowess, which gives promise for big things to come over the next two years. On the mound, the baseball player came out, as Cayman held down a more than significant role for the 20-10 Olympus Titans. Spinning some gems against some tough competition, while also producing in the box at the same time and most times in the same game.”

Wisconsin

+ Dominic Santarelli, 1B (St. Joseph Catholic HS, 2026) | Louisville commit:

“Santarelli has continued to excel this spring for Kenosha St. Joseph—emerging as a potent bat in the middle of their lineup. The left-handed hitter hit .472 at the conclusion of the regular season for the Lancers. He finished with an impressive OPS of 1.570 and had 22 extra-base hits, including eight triples and three home runs. His production at the varsity level continues to rise—priming him for an elite summer circuit.”
