By: Andy Sroka
Managing Editor, Scouting

The ‘Hotlist’ is a series that provides weekly insight into the high school baseball scene spanning the country, curated by Prep Baseball’s state directors who are situated nationwide, with vital intel on the prospects who are in their own backyards. Each week, we’ll publish our ‘Hotlist’ on varying topics that are timeliest to the national baseball calendar at that point in time.

This week’s topic: The first year of the Senior Future Games was a success, so let's take a moment to celebrate a player who participated and recently committed following the event. If you'd prefer, you could instead shine a light on a senior player from the event who garnered some well-deserved attention following their performance at LakePoint.

♨️ The ‘Hotlist’ (8/15):

Alabama

(7/21/24)

+ Carson Mann, OF (Vestavia Hills HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:

“Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 192.9-pounds. One of the premier uncommitted athletes in the 2025 class in Alabama with present strength to proportional frame. Continues to show up at events and perform at a high-level after a strong spring for one of the top programs in Class 7A. Balanced left-handed stance with minimal pre-pitch movement. Short, simple stride allows him to be on-time and works the barrel on an uphill plane through the zone. Plenty of strength at contact and heavy, whippy barrel meets the ball for higher exits. Has the numbers and metrics to back up his performance, posting a 6.60 60-yard dash, working up to 83 mph from the OF, and registering a top EV of 98.8 mph during events. Superior athleticism with good physical strength. Also performed well during gameplay at the Senior Future Games at LakePoint in late July. Definite uncommitted name to know in the 2025 class in Alabama who should not be uncommitted for too much longer.”

David Sharp, Regional Supervisor, Deep South

California

(7/20/24)

+ Trevor Banning, INF/RHP (Santa Margarita HS, 2025) | Santa Clara:

“A veteran of several Prep Baseball CA events over his high school career, Banning really broke out this summer culminating in outstanding performances at the Sr. Future Games and the California State Games which led to his commitment to Santa Clara. A sub 7 runner, Banning also shines on the dirt where his instincts, footwork, and above average arm strength give him the opportunity to make the difficult plays look easy. He's also a standout outfielder where his tools really play up. Banning has demonstrated the ability to be a hit machine whether during the high school season or during the summer circuit, all he has done is hit at a high level. ”

Les Lukach, California State Director

Canada

+ Hudson Kiss, SS (De La Salle College HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:

“Kiss went down to LakePoint as part of a loaded infield on the Canadian team and his well-rounded game showed well in front of college coaches as he proved he can get it done on the big stage.

Kiss is one of the top uncommitted positional players in Canada's 2025 class and continues to perform well when on the field with top players in the country. Should be on the radar of mid-major and academic Division I programs.”

Cam Black-Araujo , Assistant Director, CAN

Colorado

(4/22/24)

+ Adam Hayes, RHP (Berthoud HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:

“Hayes sat 89-91 mph with outlier spin on the fastball at around 2,700 rpms during the inaugural Senior Future Games. The Berthoud right-hander comes with present strength and a quality curveball around 2,500 rpms with some 12/6 shape. 6-foot-4, 210-pounds and actively developing.

Caleb Dameron, Assistant Scout

Florida

+ Brady Martin, RHP (Niceville HS, 2025) | Troy:

“Martin might've been the biggest winner of the Senior Future Games. Started Game 1 for the Southeast and was dominant. After getting the first batter he faced to pop up, Martin proceeded to strikeout the next eight batters he faced. He topped 90.5 with his fastball and was sharp with his breaking ball at 2948 rpm. Martin was named the Senior Future Games MVP and committed to Troy two days later.”

Rocco Iervasi, Florida Managing Director

Georgia

(7/23/24)

+ Peyton Robidoux, RHP (Whitfield Academy HS, 2025) | Washington:

“Robidoux has been a steady performer throughout the spring and summer, and has proved to be one of the top arms in the state. He put the 6-foot-2 projectable frame on display in a late night Senior Future Games contest with Washington in attendance. The FB is up to 92 and sits 88-90 with feel for the CH in any count. I expect Robidoux to be a low 90's arm before he heads out West next summer. ”

Hudson Graham, Georgia Scouting Director

Idaho

+ Cooper Thompson, 1B/3B (Twin Falls HS, 2025) | College of Southern Idaho:

“Each time out, Thompson continues to show positive progress being made in his game. The physical corner infield produced one of the top batting practice sessions of the Idaho State Games with a 100.5 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity to go with his event best 92.8 mph Average Exit Velocity. The offensive ability translated from the Day 1 Workout to the Live Game Play on Day 2 with multiple barrels that culminated in only one hit, but proved that Thompson is a threat each time up to the plate. He then translated this standout performance to an impressive showing at the inaugural 2024 Senior Future Games where he racked up multiple hits, including a loud barrel, in Team West’s opening game, off the centerfield wall. The present strength and size, plus the complete game now taking shape made Thompson an intriguing prospect and it was to no surprise that he was scooped up by one of the premier Junior College programs in the West.”

Brett Harrison, West Region Supervisor

Illinois

(7/13/24)

+ Mason Orton, LHP (Mahomet-Seymour HS, 2025) | Northern Illinois :

“"...recently made his commitment to Northern Illinois after his trip down to Georgia. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound southpaw has plenty of room for physical development down the road. He’s an athletic mover down the mound with a compact, quick arm, showing fastballs in the 84-87 mph range, but topping out at 88 mph with some arm-side run. He also mixed in a curveball at 74-78 mph, playing with tight horizontal action, as well as a low-80s change-up with slight fade to the arm-side."”

Pete Hamot, Assistant Director Illinois/Wisconsin

Indiana

+ Cal Schembra, OF/1B (Center Grove HS, 2025) | Valparaiso:

“Coming off a breakout junior season where he was a vital cog in the top-ranked Center Grove offense, Schembra parlayed a strong summer on the circuit on top of his standout spring, gaining helium as one of the top uncommitted left-handed bats in the state and earning an invitation to the Prep Baseball Senior Future Games.

Schembra showed off a strong hit tool in Atlanta, leading to his commitment to Valparaiso shortly after the event, the first Indiana-native from Team Midwest to verbal to a Division I program. ”

Cooper Trinkle, Indiana Scouting Director

Kansas

+ Kyler Schuessler, OF (Shawnee Mission East HS, 2025) | Hutchinson CC:

“One of the loudest performances at the Sr. Future Games with a HR and a two other exit velos over 100 mph. The OF is a five tool player with a 6.75 60, 88 OF velo, 104 exit velo, and the ability to hit for average and defend in the OF at a high level. ”

Andy Urban, Central Region Director

Minnesota

+ Seth Thompson, SS/3B (Northfield HS, 2025) | Creighton University:

“Thompson is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound left-handed hitting infielder with a silky stroke at the plate and above avg. ability to square baseballs consistently. Was a riser throughout the summer of 2024; performing at a high level offensively seamingly every weekend. Shows an above average arm with quality athleticism defensively and will stick on the left side of the infield at the college level. Was 3-for-4 with three doubles, a walk, and a HBP at this year's Senior Future Games during game play.”

Rob Allison, Upper Midwest Supervisor

Missouri

(7/7/24)

+ Jack Cowling, RHP (North Point HS, 2025) | Evansville:

“The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Cowling entered the event as one of the top seniors still on the market in the state and, after garnering plenty of buzz throughout the summer, shone bright on arguably the country's largest uncommitted stage. Across his two-inning stint, Cowling pumped his fastball in the upper-80s, touching 89 mph on his firmest bullet. His separator, however, is a sharp, upper-70s slider that has some of the more impressive raw data in the state, reaching upwards of 2900+ RPM at peak. ”

Diego Solares, Central Region Director of Media, Scouting

Nebraska

(7/7/24)

+ Jakob Ruhl, RHP (Central City HS, 2025) | Creighton:

“An intriguing 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame, Ruhl has a long and loose arm path out of a 3/4 slot. His fastball sat 84-88 mph, touching 89 mph at the Senior Future Games. He also showed a curveball that sat 73-78 mph and a change-up in the 76-81 mph range.”

Pascal Paul, Nebraska Director of Scouting

New Hampshire

(9/23/24)

+ Jet Jones, Catcher (Londonderry HS, 2025) | Utah Valley:

“Big right-handed hitter with power potential. Showed plus hand speed at the dish. Behind the plate the receiving is solid and he shows arm strength with a quick catch and throw release”

Dennis Healy, New England Scouting Director

New York

+ Conlan Taylor, RHP (Owego Free Academy HS, 2025) | Binghamton:

“Has been one of the elite pitchers in his Class for several years now. No stranger to Prep Baseball, Conlan burst on to the big stage as a member of the 2021 NY Jr. Future Games team. He has continued to be at the top of leaderboards throughout the years. Those performances earned him a spot on the 2023 NY Future Games team and after not finding the right fit was a no brainer for the 2024 NE Senior Future Games team. The veteran of Lakepoint looked very comfortable this summer. He commands a dominant three-pitch mix and is a fierce competitor on the mound. Works the lower part of the zone and can spot his upper 80's (T89) FB wherever he wants. He had a clean two innings of work striking out 4 batters. ”

Charlie Spano, VP of Scouting New York/Pennsylvannia

Pennsyvannia

+ Mason LaBuda, LHP (Boiling Springs HS, 2025) | Dayton:

“Mason first stood out when he was scouted by Nathan Ocker during his High School coverage. He got invited to State Games and was dominant. 5 of the 6 the outs he recorded were strikeouts. That performance earned him a selection on the NE Senior Future Games team. He works quicks and has a fast arm. He rely's on two plus pitches. His FB which sits mid to upper 80's (T88mph) has an average spin rate of 2,349rpm and a hard SL at 80mph that dives at the back foot of RHH are his 1-2 knockout combo. He is only getting stronger and at 6-4, 185 has a very high celling. ”

Charlie Spano, VP of Scouting New York/Pennsylvannia

Tennessee

(4/1/24)

+ Hiram Lewis, RHP (Ravenwood HS, 2025) | Wofford:

“The uncommitted 2025 Ravenwood product comes in with a very projectable 6 foot 5 and 200 pound frame. Lewis showed easy velocity sitting 87-89 topping 90mph. In his delivery he gets into a very controlled leg lift before exploding down the slope. He gets great separation through his motion. The fastball plays well up in the zone where he averaged 19in of vertical break. Slider is a plus pitch that gets 11in of horizontal movement and spins at an average 2581 rpm with a max of 2719 rpm. The slider has great action to righties as a real strikeout pitch. Paired with a projectable frame the righty has real strikeout stuff that will play at the next level. As one of the top uncommitted arms in the state Lewis looks to have a big summer as he heads into his senior season at Ravenwood. -'24 TN Top Prospect Games”
