Looking back at the past week for Prep Baseball, the class of 2025 rankings gets an updated look, Draft HQ takes a look at the draft board process and a peek into the top college prospects, Players of the Year for select states whose high school seasons have come to a close, uncommitted spotlights, trending and more.


NATIONAL NEWS

2025 Rankings


With the class of 2024 preparing to graduate and move on from high school baseball, VP of Scouting, Shooter Hunt and the Prep Baseball staff updated the class of 2025 rankings. Remaining at the top, SS Ethan Holliday (Stillwater HS, OK) leads the charge, sharing a top-10 spot with six other alumni from the 2023 All American Game. Coffee & Curveballs: As states release their individual rankings, Prep Baseball is getting ready to update its overall list covering the entire nation. In ‘Coffee & Curveballs’ VP of Scouting, Shooter Hunt and LakePoint Sports, Cory McCartney talks about who might sit at the top, the plethora of shortstops and prospects who can really shoot up the rankings with a successful summer. Player of the Week


 April 29 - May 5: Prep Baseball’s National Player of the Week from April 29 to May 5 was nothing short of dominant in two starts on the mound. In 12.1 innings of work, LHP/OF William Haas (Rockford HS, MN, 2025) struck out 32 batters allowing only one run, including a five-inning perfect game. See more on the 2022 Future Gamer and Prep Baseball Minnesota’s No. 2 prospect in the class of 2025 along with other players of the week to close out April.

May 6 - 12: Prep Baseball’s 11th National Player of the Week for the 2024 season is a familiar face after participating in this year’s Super 60 back in February. Leading Wisconsin Lutheran HS to a 3-1 record on the week, SS/3B Eddie Rynders (2024) went 9-for-12 on the week with four extra base hits, two of them going over the fence to add onto his eight RBIs from the week, taking home the honors from May 6 to May 12.

May 13 - 19: The latest and final Prep Baseball National Player of the Week of the 2024 season was able to carry his school to a state title at the plate and on the mound. A Mississippi State recruit, 3B/RHP Braden Booth (Bob Jones HS, 2024) hit an even .700 with three home runs along with a seven inning complete game in the first game of the state championship series. Draft HQ


The War Room: With hype for the 2024 MLB Draft intensifies as the prep and NCAA seasons enter their respective home stretches, VP of Scouting, Shooter Hunt and Senior Draft Advisor, D.J. Svihilik welcomed several guests on recent episodes of ‘The War Room’ to discuss Prep Baseball Draft HQ’s Draft Board with Director of College Scouting, David Seifert, along with breaking down the board and behind the scenes process to a board and mock draft assembly with MLB Pipeline’s Senior Writer, Jim Callis. + Looking at the board’s biggest risers along with some other prospects adding helium to their stock, Hunt and Seifert breakdown 13 players across the prep and NCAA level about what their season’s have looked like along with what has allowed them to trend up in ‘Draft Board Update: Helium Alert!’.

From Taiwan: April 1 to April 6, Prep Baseball West Coast Crosschecker, Dan Cox flew out to Taitung City in Taiwan to take in the East Coast League’s 18U tournament. Impressed by the overflow of talent present, see Cox’ top-20 prospects from the tournament.

On The Hunt: As the class of 2024 rankings were first coming together in the forefront of Prep Baseball’s draft coverage, the state of New Jersey didn’t seem to be as bountiful in prospects. However, after an eye opening performance at the Super 60 by RHP Chris Levonas (Christian Brothers HS, NJ), scouts across all levels started to see that the Garden State had lots to offer. Drafted out of the state himself, VP of Scouting, Shooter Hunt made his way home to see some of the board’s biggest risers and some other names to keep an eye on in ‘MLB Draft: Garden State Chronicles’.

College Crosscheck: As NCAA Division I programs compete in their respective conference tournaments before their final stretch to Omaha begins, Director of College Scouting, David Seifert continued his travels across the country to catch the top prospects at the collegiate level in ‘College Crosscheck’.

MLB Draft Top 10: Tapping into the collegiate side of the draft, Seifert dives into several position groups and what they have to offer along with a quick reflection of previous draft picks at the position.

Arizona

With the end of the Arizona high school season, the Prep Baseball staff presents the list of First Team and Second Team All-State honors. Given to one player per position, see the full lists along with video highlights from their season.

Colorado

Friday, May 24 kicks off the four 8-seeded 2024 CHSAA tournaments. A double-elimination format that will force elimination to any program that loses two games in the bracket. Before first pitch at noon, Prep Baseball Colorado’s Caleb Dameron previews the eight teams in the 5A bracket.

Minnesota

On Saturday, May 11, the inaugural Baseball Day Minnesota event kicks off with six loaded programs battling it out. Featuring 43 ranked players in the stat along with plenty of committed and uncommitted talent, Prep Baseball Minnesota partners with the Minnesota Twins, St. Paul Saints and more to bring together the best of the best.

Ohio

Saturday, May 4, Prep Baseball Ohio hosted the High School Classic in Defiance, Ohio where four of the state's premiere programs took center stage. Highlighted by the abundance of college commits across each roster and just as impressive uncommitted talent, Ohio Senior Writer, Bruce Hefflinger recaps the day’s atmosphere as well as testimonials from coaches, players and more.
