Looking back at the past week for Prep Baseball, with the NCAA Division I season getting started, find out which member of the Class of 2023 can make an immediate impact at the NCAA level. NATIONAL NEWS

Future Games

 

On July 24, the annual Prep Baseball Future Games will take place at Lakepoint Sports in Emerson, Georgia. Running from Wednesday the 24th to Sunday, July 28, hundreds of college coaches and scouts will gather to watch the top high school players in one place. Draft HQ / Super 60

 

+ With the NCAA Division I season starting on Friday, February 16, freshmen around the nation will get their first taste of collegiate baseball. Prep Baseball’s state directors gave one class of 2023 graduate per state that can leave their mark right away in the latest ‘Hotlist’

+ Vice President of Scouting, Shooter Hunt and Corey McCartney came together on Monday, February 12, a week after the 2024 Super 60 to recap the event in the latest installment of Coffee & Curveballs

+ From all around the country, Super 60 prospects made their impact in McCook, Illinois in front of over 100 MLB scouts. As players from the Class of 2024 try to climb the MLB Draft rankings, states and regions recap their prospects and the day below.

+ With the use of the transfer portal increasing, hundreds of players move on from JUCO to the NCAA Division-I level. Director of College Scouting, Dave Seifert breaks down 12 JUCO transfers to keep an eye out for with the NCAA season starting on this week here.

+ Within North Carolina’s class of 2024 top 100 prospects, two are committed to play at the JUCO level. North Carolina’s Assistant Scouting Director, Zach Boraski takes a look at those players moving on to the NJCAA after high school here.

Uncommitted

+ As the Class of 2025 gets ready for the spring season, Nebraska’s Pascal Paul presents the Top-10 list of the state’s uncommitted junior class.

+ Central Coast/North LA Area Scout, Steven Hardesty’s ‘Uncommitted Spotlight’ continues by highlighting California’s 205th prospect in the class of 2025. A two-way player that has a future in either role, get to know Charlie Orman.

+ Recapping California’s Preseason All-State events, Hardesty looks back at the state’s top-10 uncommitted pitching prospects that colleges should keep an eye out for.

STATE-BY-STATE

Alabama

14 of the top high school programs in Alabama will kick-off their 2024 season at the third annual Prep Baseball Alabama Kickoff Classic on February 16 and 17. Alabama’s state director Austin Sharp breaks down each team, returning players and more in the Kickoff Classic’s preview. Sharp and Deep South Supervisor, David Sharp also released the latest edition of “Around The State” to talk more about the event and the Class 7A-1A preseason polls.

California

Day two and three of the third annual Prep Baseball California Spring Invitational took place this week at the Great Park in Irvine, CA. With 2024 MLB Draft prospects and seven of the top 20 juniors, the 16-team tournament features teams that each made the postseason last year in the state’s Southern Section.

Florida

+ Tuesday, February 13 saw the Florida Preseason Classic kick-off with four games throughout the day at Lawnwood Baseball Complex in Fort Pierce. The event has seen the likes of past MLB Draft first round picks and serves as a prime opportunity to kick-start current players to begin their journey. Vice President of Scouting, Shooter Hunt made the trip down to Florida to catch all the action in the latest edition of “On The Hunt”.

 

+ A 17-run game, several shutouts and a 13 strikeout combined no-hitter have highlighted the first two days of action in Florida. The state’s Prep Baseball Staff recap all the action that’s unfolded below.

Mississippi

Highlighted by 2024 Super 60 prospect Stone McCaughey, the Prep Baseball Mississippi staff is keeping track of all the pitchers in the Hospitality State that are reaching the 85+ mph mark.
