Updated Class of 2012 rankings now released
November 22, 2010
The Class of 2012 is beginning to shake out to be an extremely strong group of prospects. This junior class features a handful of prospects who have already established themselves as premier players at the national level, in addition to deep pool of high-level regional prospects. The top three players remain intact: Marian Central LHP Brett Lilek, Brother Rice SS/RHP Ryan Koziol and Jacobs RHP Henry Gigeous.
Oak Forest RHP Kyle Funkhouser, Westminster Christian RHP Kevin Elder, Highland Park C Jason Goldstein, Wesminster Christian LHP/RHP Ryan Perez, Simeon C Blake Hickman, Stevenson SS Adam Walton and Warren OF/RHP Patrick Kenney are not far behind and round out the top 10 players.
Players who saw their stock soar in recent months include Boylan C/1B Zach Stoner, Springfield Sacred-Heart RHP Ridge Ackerman, Mundelein LHP Ryan Borucki, and St. Rita RHP Eddie De La Riva, among many others.
We rank the top 105 players in the state that we?ve seen so far. There are many new names to the list, and we?re sure there will many others who will be added in the coming year. This junior class holds a lot of promise, but it seems to lack the overall depth of the unbelievably talented 2011 crop.
