Spencer Mahoney, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound left-handed hitting shortstop from Lyons Township HS, has committed to Valparaiso University. Mahoney has been a varsity standout since his sophomore year.

Valparaiso also landed a commitment from Devin Pickell, a 6-foot, 170-pound left-handed pitcher from St. Patrick HS. Pickell, who had a strong showing at the Prep Baseball Report’s Top Prospect Showcase in June, possesses a loose arm and a low-to-mid-80s fastball.

Earlier in the week, Bradley University landed a commitment from Stephen Thoma, a long and loose 6-foot-4, 170-pound right-handed pitcher from Yorkville HS. Extremely projectable, Thoma was one of the fastest risers over the summer, as he showed a mid-to-upper-80s fastball and a quick arm.
