Christian Montgomery is a 6-foot-2 inch, 220 pound right handed pitcher from Lawrence Central HS and will be attending Chipola Community College in Marianna, FL beginning fall 2011.  Montgomery has an electric arm with a fastball consistently at 93-96 mph, topping out at 98.  He also shows a plus breaking ball, and an above average changeup that has the ability to be a plus pitch as he continues to throw it more. 

 

Last summer Montgomery earned the opportunity to play for Team USA where he served as the team?s set up man.  Last spring for Lawrence Central he averaged 10 K?s per 7 innings, and also pitched a perfect game against rival Lawrence North.  Over his last two seasons at Lawrence Central he has held opponents to a .140 BA, pitched 60 innings, and struck out 81 batters.

 

Montgomery has been one of the most sought after arms by colleges and scouts the last couple of years. He is considered by many to be a top 50 player in the country and a potential top five round pick in the upcoming MLB draft.  This spring expect Montgomery to continue to develop into more of a complete pitcher.
