LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - For the second consecutive year, the 2023 CIF-Southern Section high school baseball season will once again kick off with the premier preseason high school baseball tournament in Southern California, the PBR California Preseason Invitational. The 16 team field will battle in a bracketed format with all games played at the Great Park in Irvine, California.
With as many as 20 2023 MLB Draft prospects and many more in the underclasses participating, and with all games being played at Great Park in Irvine, the event will provide a one stop shop for scouts and baseball fans alike.
Some notable 2023 MLB Draft prospects include: Cole Stokes (Redondo), Casey Borba (Orange Lutheran), Eric Bitonti (Aquinas), Ralph Velasquez (Huntington Beach), Abbrie Covarrubias (Cypress), Matthew Morrell (Cypress), Roman Martin (Servite), Anthony Huezo (Etiwanda), Will Gasparino (Harvard Westlake), Luke Scherrer (Yucaipa), Jaden Alba (Gahr), Cameron Kim (Norco), Grant Gray (Norco), with many, many more in the upcoming draft classes including two of the top three nationally ranked players in the 2024 class.

The field once again features some of the best teams and players from the CIF-SS. Defending champion Orange Lutheran seeks to repeat against a field that features 11 Division I playoff teams from a year ago, three Division II playoff teams including the champion, and a Division IV semifinalist that went 28-3 last season and is littered with college and draft prospects.
There are seven newcomers to the field in 2023 including Loyola and new head coach Keith Ramsey; Aquinas led by several Division I recruits and MLB prospect Eric Bitonti; El Dorado features one of it’s deepest rosters in recent years particularly on the mound; Servite with it’s roster of talented underclassmen also boast MLB draft prospect Roman Martin; Etiwanda fresh of off it’s CIF-SS Division II title has a deep, balanced, and talented roster; Norco features many quality players including MLB draft prospects Cameron Kim and Grant Gray; and Cypress comes in as one of the most respected programs in Southern California and features upwards of 10 Division I prospects.
Games will take place Saturday, February 11, Tuesday, February 14, Thursday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 21, 2023. All games will be played at the Great Park on all four baseball fields. Be sure to check the bracket for games times and field locations.
