Six Illinois players made the Area Code Games, to be held August 5-10 in Long Beach, Calif. Downers Grove South RHP Nick Burdi, who’s the No. 1-ranked player in the Class of 2011, heads the list. Other senior players who made the team include New Trier OF Charlie Tilson, Ottawa Marquette RHP Joe Ceja and Ottawa Marquette SS Mason Snyder.

Two Class of 2012 prospects were also invited: Marian Catholic LHP Brett Lilek, who’s the top-ranked junior in the state, and Simeon catcher Blake Hickman.
