Parkland College landed two ranked prospects when it received commitments from Mahomet-Seymour LHP Jason Ziegler and Anna-Jonesboro OF Cody Livesay. At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, Ziegler emerged at a winter Prep Baseball Report showcase, when he commanded three pitches for strikes, including an 83-85 mph fastball. Livesay, a 5-foot-10, 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder, is one of the best athletes in the Class of 2011. At the Plainfield Showcase, Livesay ran a 6.4. …

New Trier OF Charlie Tilson, who’s the No. 2-ranked prospect in the Class of 2011, is making big waves at the Area Code Games in Long Beach, Calif. On Sunday, Tilson led off the game with a home run with wood – the only home run thus far at the event – then had an RBI single and stole two bases. The athletic left-handed hitter already has five stolen bases and is slugging .857. He also earned the third-highest score in the SPARQ athletic testing.
