Four more prospects are off the board. Dan Ludwig, a LHP who helped lead Naperville Central to the Class 4A state championship, has committed to Belmont University. The 6-foot-1 Ludwig was a perfect 9-0 with a 1.65 ERA. Ludwig struck out 91 and walked only 9 in 76.1 innings for the Redhawks.
Garrett Schlecht, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound OF/LHP from Belleville West HS, has committed to the University of South Alabama. Schlecht is a two-way talent who has a live arm and good athleticism.
Heartland CC has landed two more prospects: Evanston C Trevor Forde and Brandon Taylor, a RHP from Normal Community HS. Forde emerged as one of the better catching prospects in the state over the summer and is the second strong catcher Heartland has landed in the Class of 2011, joining Carbondale’s Aaron Fink. …
In other news, Jacobs RHP Henry Gigeous, who’s the No. 3-ranked prospect in the Class of 2012, has been added to the Area Code Games roster. The Area Code Games begins August 5 in Long Beach, Calif. Gigeous, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound athlete, is the seventh player from Illinois to be named on the Area Code roster. Other invitees include: Downers Grove South RHP Nick Burdi, New Trier OF Charlie Tilson, Ottawa Marquette RHP Joe Ceja, Ottawa Marquette SS Mason Snyder, Marian Catholic LHP Brett Lilek and Simeon C Blake Hickman.
