August 12, 2011
PBR: What schools were you considering?
Josh: I was considering University of Dayton, Wright State and Miami of Ohio
PBR: Why did you choose Dayton?
Josh: I took baseball out of the equation and I felt the UD was right academically.
PBR: Was it important to stay close home/travel?
Josh: Although being close to home was important I wanted to make sure that I found a school that made me feel like I was home.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Josh:They stated that they thought I would be a big impact to their team's success and that I can help them win Championship's.
PBR: What were your expectations about recruiting heading into the summer?
Josh: I wanted to be recognized on the success I had going into the summer and I wanted coaches to see the potential I could offer them as an athlete.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Dayton?
Josh: My knowledge of the game is my biggest strength. I feel that with my mental and physical abilities and the assistance of the Dayton coaches we will make the team successful.
PBR: How has travel baseball helped your development as a player?
Josh: The competition is more intense and the coaching staff not only cares about winning the "BIG" game but they care about who fits best in a position compared to a "House" team that has to give every player time on the field.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Josh: Besides my parents, Dustin Sebastian has devoted himself to helping me with my balance and technique, without trying to change me or my pitching style. Dustin has pushed me mentally and physically to improve my delivery and has made me a stronger person with his persistence. I am grateful I had the opportunity to have a coach who cares about us "guys" as players as well as winning games.
PBR: What were your stats for this spring season in High School?
Josh: I was 7-2 on the mound with an ERA of 2.98, 62 strike outs and about 34 walks.
